seems a little harsh, but geez you would think the kid would get a clue at some point.

So, it's not like baseball? Five strikes then you only get 3 more chances?

Anyone know what he got popped for? I seem to remember it was pot.

If so, pretty lame he can't get through a rehab/probation for something as non-addicting as weed.

If it something more gripping, I'll feel for him but stay off the track.

And shame on USAC for letting him drive when he is under suspension with NASCAR. Seems there should be some reciprocity among sanctioning bodies for something like this.

If it was/is meth, it would physically be pretty hard for him to conceal (and thus incite NASCAR's latitude to "test anytime"), no?

Depends. With heavy use Meth tears up the immune system, kidneys and other organs. Secondary effects from lack of sleep and food cause more damage. The effects on the brain from speed itself is bad enough, but there is evidence that the lack of sleep alone causes permanent brain damage and psychosis.

OTOH at milder levels people live on speed for years without obvious effects. Ritalin for example is a speed and all speeds work about the same wat on the body

But Meth is much more powerful and addictive

Scary stuff. See http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/photos/gallery.ssf?cgi-bin/view_gallery.cgi/olive/view_gallery.ata?g_id=2927

This (http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=210659) confirms that there is an existing meth rumor (not that the rumor is necessarily true or not).

Your link confirms he is in a bad way and in no way deserves to anywhere near a race car

I'm no fan of how NASCAR runs it's show, but this was a good call. I'd like to think that it would be the same call if it were a high profile driver with a title or two to his record, but we'll never know unless it happens. The stick and ball people should take note, but they won't.

Maybe they have learned from the way they treated Tim Richmond.

There are millions of addicted people in the world. There are very deep underlying problems for this guy if he does not realize what he is screwing up.

Him stopping drug usage is not going to cure him.

Welcome to the real world, hope you saved enough money to buy a vowel
