As I recall there was a little difficulty with the event last year not attributable to the venue owner. It seems the jockeying for negotiating positions is heating up with the IMS people saying "we won't talk until after we see how this year's event goes" and Bernie's people saying they'd really like a big Casino race in Vegas. Hmmm. Think I'd be more likely to go watch in LV than return to IMS.

Bernie's talking about a street race on the strip, but that'll never happen. If they have a Vegas event it'll be in another parking lot.

But I think that if Indy isn't retained, the most likely scenario is the dissaperarance of the USGP for another decade or so.

The problem last year actually wasn't with IMS for a change. It was at its core the issues between FIA/FOM/Bernie/Max and the GPMA. With a little poor preparation by Michelin (somewhat suspect product) and carelessness (running under Michelin's suggested pressures) by Toyota to get things going.

some of the blame does goe to IMS, after they did the diamond grind every series had tire problems, the brickyard 400 had plently of blow outs, and firestone had problems early on with thiers, but i believe they were able to use some of bridgestones knowledge to correct thier tire problems. i see the 15 mil santioning fee as being the deal breaker, Tg is in a cash flow problem, hell sinking 200 mil into earl upgrade for the track and bernies blood money, , if not for the brickyard 400, he's in deep do do

I still wish Dallara would have wonned the ChampCar chassis contract. The meltdown/opinion reversal would've been great.

It'll be Indy again or nothing. No way F-1 does the strip. Vegas doesn't need F-1.

I'm betting it will be Indy again or hoping anyway. I'm looking to drink some more of Spicoli's beer! :gomer:

some of the blame does goe to IMS, after they did the diamond grind Absolutely. Diamond grinding is a great way to re-level the surface but after they got back to level they should have re-paved the surface. Leaving a surface of freshly sharpened aggregate is so fundamentally ignorant that anyone that does this is not qualified to own a race track. The fact that other track owners have done it doesn't make it right but is simply evidence of broader ignorance regarding the practice.

For anyone having difficulty understanding why this is the case run your thumb across a worn out piece of sandpaper and a new piece. The worn sandpaper is like new or worn pavement and your thumb will move across it with little friction. The new sandpaper is the diamond ground pavement it will take your skin off if you rub hard enough.

^^^^^ And of which the added sideload bridgestone/firestone had knowledge and data on after a month of testing in May and michelin did not.

Wow. I saw that from my seats in H stand. I thought it was a couple of French guys or something (Renault fans).
