I’m going to be in Europe for the World Cup this summer and just realized that I could also catch the 24 Hours of Lemans while being there. Anyone here ever attend the race? If so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

FYI – If I do go I will be traveling from Paris on train.

carrfour... they always provide.

i did it last year, with my wife as part of a week in france. we camped at beaujedour. it was... well, it was an experience. think woodstock-esque. just a couple more people than the 24 hours of daytona.

i would suggest springing for a grandstand seat in addition to the g.a., so you have some shade during the day, and a place to sit. if you camp, prepare for not a lot of sleep. if you hotel, prepare to spend some serious cash. and the days of "waiting until the wee hours in the a.m. to get into the grandstands for free" are pretty much over.

check out beermountain.com (http://www.beermountain.com). their forums have good info, and the guys are a lot of fun. it wasn't a bad experience for us, but a little more info would have helped us out greatly.

What's this "world Cup you speak of??? :gomer:

:D

Get yer @ss there, dude... Chop, Flobee, Hardpoint, and myself will be camping Thurs-Sun. If you bring your wife, you can camp with us, too. ;)

[edit] And while you're endurance racing, why don't you fly down to Sebring for the 12 hours? We already have a cargo (read: beer) van rented...

Crikey, I must be old! It's been more than thirty years since I went to LeMans to watch a relative run in a Capri sponsored by Ford of Germany.

Anybody else remember the Capri?

The car that should have been the Mustang II instead of that Pinto based POS.

I am hemorrhaging enough money on this World Cup trip. Sebring is out of the question. Now that I know you guys will be at Lemans I am defiantly planning on going. I may also have some other raging alcohols in tow. How is French beer?

Aye. I remember seeing it from my school bus with Gremlins and Pacers, etc. in the 70s. :D

Hat? I'm blinded by the glare off those white gams of yours. Geebus, hit the tanning booth at least once this year before exposing them to direct sunlight.

Well it is Scottish & Newcastle now and about to be restructured too...

16/02/2006
Brasseries Kronenbourg, the French subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle plc, has today begun consultation with its workforce over the proposed restructuring of its brewing business.

The project includes:

* The proposed sale of Champigneulles brewery near Nancy

* Focus on premium brands and operations at Obernai brewery near Strasbourg

An update on the consultation process will be provided in due course.
