Gelles Racing Announces Atlantic Lineup With Drivers Pecorari and Simpson
February 13, 2006
INDIANAPOLIS - Gelles Racing proudly announced today that it will enter two very promising stars in the new Champ Car Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama for the upcoming 2006 season. Young American hotshoe Robbie Pecorari will step up to the new upper-ladder series that has graduated so many drivers to the top professional series in the last decades. Also joining Gelles Racing will be Stephen Simpson from South Africa. Simpson has enjoyed a long winning curriculum both in Europe and around the world and is representing his country in the new A1GP series with great success. Gelles Racing also announced that its Atlantic team recently put under contract race engineer David Conti and crew chief Geoff Bushor to work with Operations vice-president Tim Jennings.

"We are very excited to have Robbie (Pecorari) and Stephen (Simpson) racing with us this year," cheered team principal Bob Gelles. "Eighteen-year old Robbie is all about the future of open wheel racing in America and we have no doubt he will mature into one of the permanent fixtures in motorsports. We had been in contact with Stephen for the last few years but were never able to match our goals before this year. This 22-year old experienced pilot could be the outsider in the championship. His accomplishments in the A1GP leave no doubt: he will be successful.

We're also ecstatic to have Dave (Conti) and Geoff (Bushor) join our Atlantic team. We are most pleased to provide news that our very own Trygve Rangen has graduated to the Super Aguri Formula One team as a design/research engineer and fellows like Dave and Geoff will tackle the new Atlantic package with panache. We are here to put our mark on the new series."
