I just got hooked up to this through a stray mention in a promo on my local NPR outlet, where Oscar Treadwell still gets a few a hours a week to spin good wax from the back of the stacks and some fine new polyvinyl with a metalicized surface.

Listen and enjoy.

A few years ago, my wife and I spent an evening downtown, Chicago for our 10th anniversary. The concierge at the Hilton on Michigan gave us passes to the Green Dolphin to hear some Jazz. We went there after dinner and Hiromi was the performer. We loved it and even talked to the bass player for a while during their break. They went to school together out east (Columbia, I think). We bought her CD (Another Mind) and even had her autograph it.

I've been meaning to get her 2nd CD and you just reminded me. Great Music!

That is so cool that you have seen her live. Every now and then I get turned on to piano jazz again. When I was a teen I used to caddy at the hotels where my uncle Nelson played the winter and summer seasons with his trio. But Nel was a lot more Johnny Mercer and Paul Whitehead than this. I think he'd approve, though.

If you like old school big band etc., take a listen to Dick Buckley online some Sunday afternoon. Cool music and great stories. Good for hangovers.

They have jazz overnights, too. 8pm-4am, I think.

When I hear Piano Jazz, I think of Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz (http://www.npr.org/programs/pianojazz/) .

I scanned to see if Hiromi has been a guest, (not yet I guess), but I'd bet on "soon".

thanks for the tip ;)
