Everytime they say Danica or show Danica you have to take a drink. I figure you will be passed out by noon pacific time.

So the Porsche threat looks to have ended. Drop gear, and the Crawford/Job/factory driver improvements aren't much help when the driveshaft breaks.

Ford is showing their fuel milage advantage - hence my pick - but with all these cautions they aren't really going to be able to exploit it.

I'm betting on Darren Law making up 2 laps and taking it.

I wonder what is up with that car. My guess would be the halfshaft problems everyone else has had, but as far as I know, TV hasn't done an update on them since Barron hit the fence. They were murdering the field on fuel milage until that moment.

To my knowledge the front end/suspension damage Barron incurred was the sole reason for all the laps lost.

Maybe we'd know more if anyone at SPEED had bothered to interview a single team person on camera during the first 12+ hours of coverage... :shakehead In contrast, on the sister car they talked to Rice 2x and Herta 1x, and they were never in the hunt.

The MG interview just now was too little, too late, and they didn't answer that particular question anyway.

So nice to have real live racing on the television. Anyone else wish it was the Champcar opener around the corner, instead of the NASCAR one?

Great to see AJ and Wilson do so well in thieir first time out. You know, I heard a rumor that this was the first time AJ's ever driven a racecar with a roof. ;) Towards the end, I was praying that AJ wouldn't get inside his head and stuff it, like he did in a few Champcar races last year.

The first Danica interview I saw was her whining about how the seat insert Rusty uses combined with her seat insert to put her 12.5" from the steering wheel instead of the preferred 13.5."

Valid point, but according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, he "appears to have it all -- James Dean's hair, Mario Andretti's right foot, Paul McCartney's boyish charm and like Sir Paul, that British accent us Yanks all find so amusing." Who cares what you've won, when you've got a description like that? ;)

No, it proves that if you keep your car out of trouble for 22 hours you will be near the top of the charts. That is true of all endurance races. They were not that fast, they just kept it on the track, didn't hit anybody & otherwise didn't break for 22 hours. Too bad for him it was a 24 hour race.

At this point, the GT isn't running in any class anywhere. However, Nic Jonsson is working on one for SWC GT (may or may not appear this year), and one is supposed to be in SuperGT this year, though I suppose it could well be a tube-frame special.

No mere 12-hour race can truly be a counterpoint to a 24-hour race. They simply can't be compared. Walk through the paddock at about Hour 15 of a 24-hour race, and you'll understand.

I wish Don would get some stones and tell the French to go suck eggs, and run a 24 Hours of Road America.

Since when did a crowd make a race?

Is a 500-lap NASCAR brawl at Bristol a better race than a Champ Car shootout at Road America merely because there are 100,000+ jamming into the stands at one and only a smattered 25,000 at the other?

Machinery, perhaps. Drivers? I think the Rolex got about as good a cross-section of the best drivers in the world as you'll ever find in one place. It is what it is, and it ain't what it ain't.
