Thanks for the news! I used to enjoy watching the Dakar Rally on SPEED; I really missed it last year when there was no broadcast.

Very cool. Thanks for the times. :D Another feather for OLN (in addition to the Tour de France.)

Robby is off to a Robby style good start

Starting in Lisbon, Portugal the first leg of the grueling event was broken
into three distinct stages with the fast, important, timed Special Stage of
the 51.5 miles set in the middle of two liaison stages that were run on the
major highway between Lisbon and the resort town of Portimao on the southern
coast of Portugal.* Gordon wowed the Lisbon starting line crowd with an
unconventional move on the raised starting platform, where the drivers are
introduced to the public.* This allows an even 2 minute spacing between the
racers in Gordon’s competition group.* After taking the applause from the
appreciative Portuguese fans, Gordon backed down the starting ramp and came over the top with his wheels in the air!

69th? robby was up to 5th after stage3, down to 119th in stage 4, broken transmission, bummer for robby but if he is up to 69th thats a hell of a comeback

Couldn't 69th in class be 119th overall? That's no comeback.

Yeah, Mo'sport confirms 69th in car class after stage 4.

What an awesome photo! I'm really enjoying the Dakar shows.

Beccy Gordon and Ryan were an "item" at the Vegas race, and I'd be surprised if that has changed. BTW, Beccy is a lovely, gracious lady; she was nice to everyone at the Vegas CCIC breakfast, and treated my husband and I like old friends anytime we had the pleasure of meeting her.

Stage 5: Update

Gordon began the day in the same position that he completed yesterday's stage - 119th. He completed the 217 mile special in 4'09" and was the 48th car to cross the finish line meaning he had passed 71 cars on the day. The overall performace with adjusted time was good enough for a 19th place finish on the day which will move the Hummer up in the starting order for tomorrow's stage. Gordon improved his overall classificaton from 69th to 45th

At that rate, he's in the lead in 2 days! :)

Team Gordon 11th in Car, stage 6...now 27th overall...up from 45th and 69th in last 2 days! Top 10 next? Takin' in the sights in Mauritania!

hope some of the spoiled rich nascar boys get into this, they gotta be jealous, or envious of robby's time away from nascarland usa

Uh...Stage 7...I don't see him listed in the top 52. Looks like his prediction came true..."I'll either win, or break!" (maybe he can come back early now and won't need Tracy to test his 'Cup car for him.)

Stage 7 Update: ROBBY GORDON HUMMER CRASHES ON 7th DAY OF DAKAR RALLY

TEAM DAKAR USA > News > Stage Report

American racer Robby Gordon’s effort to win the famed Dakar Rally may have come to an abrupt end in the vast sand dunes of the North African desert today. Gordon and Navigator Darren Skilton were making the fast and dangerous run from Zouerat to Atar in their Hummer H3 on the seventh day of the two-week event when they crashed heavily on the face of a huge sand dune.

Read it was NOT a heavy crash, but enough to split the radiator, combined with clutch problems.

Hummer is tough, took Wobby longer than usual to break it.

It's probably only lasted this long because it's not a real Hummer.
