just sitting here in a daydream,
ok so it's 2112 and things have changed. nascar is still at the top and became 1/4 owners of champcar in 2008. champcar who's car count was near 24 cars and 24 races in 2008 added nascar as a partner after privatly coming up with a plan to take over open wheel racing in the u.s. by killing the irl before the 2009 indy 500. nascar wasn't happy at all with tony's time change leaving even more time between the 2 races to get nextel teams to do the double so the car count wouldn't drop the 33 mark. for 2008 penski, and gannassi added 4 cars for thier cup drivers plus rahal, andretti both added cars for drivers tony stewart, jeff gordon, jimmy johnson, and dale jr.. childress and robby gordon teamed up to do the double. the 2008 500 with 9 cup drivers, 6 champcar drivers, and 18 irl drivers ended with only 3 irl regulars in the top 15.
at the champcar 2008 season ending race the nascar/champcar deal was publically announced and the plan was in action. first off the 2009 champcar schedule jumped to 28 races adding daytonas roadcourse, fontana, michigan, and talledega all 500 mile races. they left the last 2 weeks of may open and penski, gannassi both switched to champcar.
the irl now down to 16 cars and 7 of them fielded by rahal and andretti only ran the st. petersburg race to a crowd of 10,000 in 2009. andretti green and rahal pulled out and began champcar programs getting prepaired for the indy 500 knowing that nascar/champcar were not going to field any cars for tony's failed vision.
after floridas flop and all the bad press concerning the irl tony george finally gave up and announced that champcar has added the indy 500 to thier 2009 schedule and the irl went bankrupt. the 500 sold out 3 days later.
now 2112 champcar is up to 32 races, full fields of 33 cars at every race with 36-39 trying to qualify. this years indy 500 had 11 cars bumped and tony george discovered crack cocaine

Do you mean 2012? Because 107 years is a long way off.

2112 is probably right..... NASCAR will still be running the same engine and "chassis" rules that they have now. :p

Actually, 107 years is probably about right for NASCAR to discover fuel injection.
