"Tony has done a great job over the years winning so many races in both the CART and IRL series with Honda-powered cars," says Yasuhiro Wada, the president of Honda Racing Development. "We are very pleased to give him this chance to sample our F1 machinery."

Is it a joy ride or a test?

It sounds like the former.

Joy ride, for sure. Chance to hang out with Gil.

And by "so many", he means one CART race. Shows how much easier thing are over there in earldom.

This is actually a GIFT RIDE. He was "promised" a ride in the BAR car after winning the championship last year, he's been pissing and moaning about the fact he hasn't gotten the freebie since the end of last year. I hope he crashes big, not getting hurt, but costing FH a mill or two. That would be too funny.

"Tony has done a great job over the years doing what we tell him for a paycheck. He sucks, but he is a good company boy." says Yasuhiro Wada, the president of Honda Racing Development. "We think he is an ********, but we promised him the chance to play in a F1 car".

I translated the quote from Japanese.

That was luck, and he damn near threw that one away, too.

This must be that new high-downforce nose I heard BAR was testing.

Kanaan is so good, he'll definitely bump Button or Barrichello. All he does is win oval races!

Yup and would have been a maximum of two Cart races, but of course Long Beach 99 was also thrown away while in the lead.

I was there, sitting high just off the s/f line. Heard Max crying on the scanner and saw Montoya almost get The Knose at the line. Felt really bad for Max.

I was probably sitting close enough to see you. I felt worse for myself than for Papis because I had him in our pool and he cost me $40. :D

But just think, if it paid off, Papis would've been on the cover of SI, right?
