The vice president of programming and production at ESPN has some advice for the Indy Racing League - more Danica and less Japan...

Ken Ungar, the senior vice president of the IRL, says they are taking some of Shapiro's suggestions to heart adding it's one reason for the delay in confirming their 2006 calendar. However, one suggestion that likely won't be accommodated is dropping the Japanese event from the schedule.

"It's part of a strategic issue with us," Ungar tells the newspaper. "It's an important market for us and our engine manufacturer."

Why not "one of our engine manufacturers"?

The little Freudian slip obviously means Honda's in for 2007 for now. I've got to believe there's a bunch of behind the scenes scrambling going on over in the pagoda. That supposed engine announcement that would distract the earl teams from Indy obviously meant that Barnhart didn't have a clue how to get he and Tony off the pommel horse while Honda is having their way with them.

I'm not convinced that means honda is staying passed 2006.

He could be speaking in the present. honda is all the have.
