I'm sure this is well known to many, but to those who may not have heard of this application, it is worth the download. Great for killing a few hours.

Satellite images of the world. I like looking up race tracks around the world and of course houses that I've lived in etc. You can search points of interest, commerce and it will give you driving directions. Very slick software.

Dig.

Kick-start: Type in Montreal and then use your mouse to drag the image to 45.29.52N, 33.31.33W for the track (although you can just head to the river and look for the islands too ;) )

Link for Download (http://earth.google.com/downloads.html)

Enjoy.

Great stuff, especially for free. I found the hotel I'm staying at in Greece.
I wonder if the pay service offers better resolution?

If you look at Vancouver BC, you can see the Molson Indy Course set-up, and all the transporters in the "paddock"

Only if you give the money to the Feds.

As with Google Maps and Keyhole, the premium services offer more recent pics. For example, with the free service, my house appears to be under construction from ~3 years ago...with the premioum Keyhole service, the image was from the past year (based on the state of the sub division). High-rez images are restricted by the Feds.

I didn't see them there, but if you look at LB, they are definitely there, in fact a champcar is on the main straight, looks to be a white, perhaps the original PK racing lola?

Coordinates - 33° 45' 43.32" N, 118° 11' 15.87" W

[edit] there are a few more on the track.... follow the track to see them

Decent crowd in the stands too - Shot of the hairpin with 2 cars
