And likes what she sees. (http://www.backseatblonde.com/August0501.html)
The course wasn’t perfect. Logistics for the fans were
horrific. And you could spend hours walking around trying
to find driver gear and never, ever find so much as a
t-shirt.

But in one weekend the inaugural San Jose Grand Prix
accomplished what NASCAR has dreamed about for years. It captured the
imagination of everyday people in the San Francisco Bay Area.

.....snip.....

But overall, the event could be called no less than a major coup for the Champ Car
series. They offered up a story bought hook, line and sinker by the local media,
generated unheard-of anticipation among a very jaded and sports-savvy Bay Area,
gave the city of San Jose an entirely new identity, revived a sagging downtown
economy, and even sold this stock car fan a ticket to next year’s spectacle.

NASCAR gets a huge crowd at Sonoma. A great track where any fan can see 90% of the track, and its far from the major cities.

they have nothing to worry about.

they have nothing to worry about.

Perhaps not. But, SOLD OUT means something. Especially to NASCAR.

Hey a CCWS race is fun, exciting, and well worth the price of admission. 160,000 San Jose fans know it, whether it's on a street course or anywhere. Don't lose fact of any of it when analysing where the racing dollar needs to be spent....it can't be denied.

I suspect NASCAR will do a street venture....soon.

Yeah...NNC on a street circuit..

The best thing about SJGP is that it opened the eyes of "urbanites" to Champcar (many of which may have stayed home in front of the TV if not for it being an "off" weekend for NASCAR's top tier series).

I'm tempted to email this "blonde" and find out if she's headed for Vegas in September when "the FAST guys" invade LVMS... I have often told NASCAR fans that the cars are slow compared to a REAL race car (heck, I asked GdF how he liked a "slow" car at Fontana... :D )

I hope Tony and Ziggy got a leg up on the wing package this week...We need to see our boys at speed this year, and not another "earl-ish" downforce parade!

See you all in Vegas!!
