My guess is Pizzonoa would actually like to race, Kanaan would like to know he's going to get paid and Jos... well, I'll keep quiet on him. But why would da Matta want to go to A1GP? Is he not happy where he is or is something going on behind the scenes?

"Team Brazil" to Brazilians is a huge deal.
Whoever gets the A1GP ride will be huge back home...

Not to mention he'll probably get a lot of cash if chosen, and CC may have no more than a 1 year "guarantee" on that.

Autosport-Atlas is reporting that Kanaan is a go, pending his release from AGR. Are the rats abandoning the sinking ship?

Team boss Emerson Fittipaldi said that all that stands in the way of the former IRL champion to be the team's main driver is the approval of his Andretti Green Racing team.

Kanaan will test the 550bhp Lola Zytek at the second official A1 Grand Prix test at Paul Ricard at the end of August, the same week he is testing for Formula One team BAR.

Fittipaldi told Autosport-Atlas: "I'm looking for Tony to be the standard driver for the team. He wants to do it. He is already committed but we need a release from Michael [Andretti]."

There are a few surprises in that quoute. I didn't know Emmo was involved.

As a Champ Car fan, I'm not thrilled about this 'ladder' (IMO) series stealing our drivers. A1GP is a distraction that I'm sure KK and Co. have their eye on. I hope.

Cool, maybe they will sell them some Cosworth engines.

The franchise for the crucial American market has been secured by communications tycoon, Rick Weidinger.

So is Kelley Racing going to be the US A1GP team?

Keep in mind that A1GP is racing during the off-season. Nobody is leaving their full time gigs for this deal.

Then why is Kanose seeking a release from his AGR contract?

There is quite a bit over overlap between the seasons. The A1GP schedule this fall looks like this:

September 25, 2005 Great Britian
October 9, 2005 Lausitz, Germany
October 23, 2005 Portugal
November 6, 2005 Sidney Australia
November 20, 2005 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Compared to CCWS

September 24, 2005 Las Vegas
October 16, 2005 Korea
October 23, 2005 Gold Coast Australia
November 6, 2005 Mexico City Mexico

Three of four races are the same weekend.

FCYTravis

There's also an overlapping IndyCar Series race - at Watkins Glen on Sept. 25.

Maybe Kanose *is* bailing out?

Yep, Dixons named has been mentioned down here but Bob McMurray (sp) said he would have to prove himself that he was the quickest driver and that if he did come onboard it may be for only two races. I think the Kiwi Team is favouring Matt Halliday. Will post more when the news comes out.

A1 GP is a threat everyone, but that Sheik wants to take on F1 eventually, and is planning on usin some things from the Champ Car play book.

I talked to somone involved with the brazilian team and he was telling me the finnacial details of it.

(in very simple terms) Each franchise gets around 3 million a season to run A1GP (from the arab guy), and they can still sign sponsors after that. That 3 million covers all the costs of running the season and any other money raised is for profit or towards a driver's salary. So basically a team owner should not loose any money.

It was alot more complicated then that, but it made me wish i started the USA team because its a money maker.

Probably the National circuit. Turns right into the infield at Becketts and returns to the GP circuit before Abbey, I think. SBK ran that version of the circuit this year after having run the GP circuit for, well, ever.

This sheik must have really deep pockets in his kaftan to buy teams for Lebanon.

He ain't the one. The Lebanon team principal is Tameem Auchi. The name might not mean much but his daddy is Nadhmi Auchi, a hooked up individual if there ever was one:
ONE of Britain’s richest men has become embroiled in a criminal investigation being conducted by the American government into allegations of bribery in Iraq.

Nadhmi Auchi, the country’s 34th richest citizen — worth £898m — has been asked to go to America to assist prosecutors probing a multi-million-pound deal to provide a mobile phone network in Iraq.

Officers of the US attorney-general are investigating the awarding of reconstruction contracts in Iraq following the fall of Saddam Hussein.

A recent report found that an estimated £4.7 billion of reconstruction money is unaccounted for and may have been mis-spent, or lost, as a result of corruption in the awarding of Iraqi contracts.

The mobile-phone deal being probed was won by an Egyptian firm, Orascom, which is part owned by Auchi, 67. Yasser Arafat, the former Palestinian leader who died in November, was also a backer.

Officials from the attorney- general’s office in Illinois recently wrote to Auchi asking him to come for interview. Orascom is accused of paying millions of dollars in bribes to American, British and Iraqi officials in Baghdad. Prosecutors want to question Auchi about his knowledge of the deal.

A proper rear wing assembly and a sawz-all to the airbox would do wonders for the ride.

And maybe work on the walrus tusks on the front wing.
