You think you can find pictures on the internet with the best of them? Think that if it exists, you can find it? Do your friends ask you to find things for them and you do it?

I want to see pictures of the new surface in the RCA Dome, including the new midfield and endzone graphics.

I have only seen one, which is at FieldTurf's website (http://www.fieldturf.com/index.cfm?pageView=viewHighProfile&highProfileID=89&sportPage=football) and I'm hoping it's NOT real. If it is, I'm going to be pretty upset that they had a chance to do something NEW on the surface and instead they put the same stupid helmet logo in the middle.

I'm back from vacation, and I'm mad as heck!

:)

Thanks Zig.

Yes, the work was done in May -- Dungy mentioned in an article in the Star about seeing it in the Dome and really liking the way it looked.

rw -- that's for the new stadium, not the new surface in the current stadium. Nice try. :)

C'mon, I was hoping to draw the young dorks into this contest... Gorman? Ank?

Why would they change the graphics just because they're changing the surface?

What else would they put on the 50 yard line? One of these?

WB, check the installation date on that site. ;) Will that, even slightly, diminish the Colts' speed advantage?

EDIT: Upon reading the rest of the thread, apparently that site is wrong. :o :saywhat:

I never understood why they put fieldturf in an outdoor stadium in Cincinnati. Buffalo? Yeah, I understand that one, but not Cincinnati.

Oh, and look, the Bengals don't have a helmet logo in the middle of the field.

Have you seen how crappy Grass Fields get in the winter? Pittsburgh's is sand and grass by December. I'm still personally surprised the NFL hasn't mandated the field surfaces yet.

If the Texans can have real grass indoors then I suppose the Bungles can have fake grass outdoors. :saywhat:

I heard the rest of the league wanted the Colts to put "Patriots" in the endzones. That way, they'd never score in their home games. <rimshot> :D

Cincinnati doesn't have a real winter. :)

Try telling the '81 Chargers that. :D

They tried hard to keep a grass field but there was just no way to make it last through the season. Winter or not, the grass doesn't grow well enough in November to keep up with the pounding delivered by NFL linemen.

WB, install date is listed as 8/1/05 on the FieldTurf site:

http://www.fieldturf.com/highProfile.cfm?highProfileID=89.

NRC, the fact that they couldn't grow grass in Cincy is pure stupidity. Somehow they manage to grow grass just fine in Ohio Stadium, and I believe the Browns don't have any turf issues (altho they really don't play football on that field :gomer: ). After spending $400mm+ on PBS, on would think they should be able to grow grass. :saywhat: I'm just happy they finally did something about and then sent CD packing. :D

Odd. The articles I've seen show they decision was announced mid-May. Could they have it installed that quickly? The turf in the pic does look like FT, and not the old AstroTurf surface. AT was more uniform in appearance, where FT looks more like grass with a varied appearance like it's been mowed.

They made the decision well before the Combine. I thought they'd have it installed by then.

You can probably even just tell them that you're thinking about buying season tickets and you want to check out the view from some of the available seat choices. I'd imagine they'll let you poke around all you want.

Still, I hold out some hope that they did NOT do this.

Since it's well documented that you can pretty much go anywhere and do anything if you wear a hardhat and carry a clipboard, it sounds to me like you need 3 things:

1) A hardhat
2) A clipboard
3) A can of blue spray paint

Voila, no more gray helmet bars. :D

My spray paint would be green, and I would remove the helmet completely. You just don't do the helmet anymore -- you do the team logo, or the NFL logo, but the helmet screams "doofus".... but I guess I *am* in Indiana, aren't I.

Helmet. Same blue end zones -- in fact, not even the same blue as the new Colts uniforms. Last year they darkened the blue to match what it was when they moved to Indy (it had gotten, somehow, brighter and brighter), but since the padding on the walls at the end of the end zones is the weird bright blue, they made the end zones match.

Had a chance to do something like the Rams, Bengals, Patriots, etc all did when they got a new field -- put the logo on the field, change the end zones....

I'm obsessing, sorry.
