"Hey guys, it's very simple -- there is no merger. There are no merger talks," Kalkhoven said. "It is as simple as that and I am really bored about the subject."

So this caps it. Talks started. CCWS proposed a 50-50 merger. Tony responded with his laughable, "we'll even run your races" proposal and that was the end of it.

Good. Finally. Thank God.

No more talk of it, let's not bother with it.

Time to finally say goodbye and move on.

Until Next Season & Tony needs publicity for the build up to the 500, and he leaks to the press that he "might" be open to a merger ! ;)

Amen, what sponsor would commit, not knowing the direction of the sport?

I am not going to automatically put her in and just say 'We need you for publicity. Would you mind getting in a bikini and draping yourself over a car?'

KK puttin the smack down on Danica.

The local Sunday snapper wrapper had a wire service story with the same content. TG was clearly presents as the bad guy.

Guys, there is never going to be a merger in Tony's lifetime.

never

better come up with a plan to deal with running a series without Indy

I think we all know it, but the few thousand of us left just can't stop hoping a miracle will happen. :)

.... But the Toronto Sun was told yesterday that Molson -- Champ Car's most important Canadian partner -- wants unification talks back on track.

The beer giant -- which is the promoter of the Toronto Molson Indy and is the primary sponsor of the Molson Indy Montreal -- has quietly been working behind the scenes trying to encourage both sides to take a deep breath and get back to the negotiating table.

"(Molson) has always been committed and very public in terms of wanting the two series to come together," Molson Sports and Entertainment president Jo-Ann McArthur told The Sun.

"We would be happy to be the bridge for those two series to reunite."

McArthur said she is advocating that both sides start to end the 10-year feud by running at some races together as soon as next season.

"We would be happy to have our race to be a bridge race, where the best of both series could come to Toronto," she said.

But McArthur's pleas are being met with stony silence from both sides.

Given that Molson promotes 2 very succcessful Canadian events and produces the TV package, how much influence do they have on this issue?

When will people stop calling for everyone to do something? Until they convince TG to do something, every other person, manufacturer, sponsor, driver, owner and promoter can do everything they want and it won't end the split. TG owns IMS and there would be no split/competition if any other reasonable person owned IMS. The pressure only needs to be placed in one location and on one person.

Good. Let's get back to the business of racing and FTG to the business of supporting a s**** series.
