I've been using this image to discuss the IRL ratings, but I don't know the source, so it's tough to stand behind when challenged.

Does anyone know who came up with it and maintains it?

No idea who did that chart, but for the most part they match what I have for the years that I kept track. My sources were On Track, Racer, Zap2It.com and whatever the press reported.

Here are the numbers to compare those to:

1995 CART ABC-covered race Neilsens: Maimi - 2.7, Phoenix - 3.0,
Aust - 2.2, LBGP - 2.9, Naz - 2.9, Mil - 2.2, Det - 3.3, Cleveland -
2.3, Tronto - 2.6, MIS - 4.0, M-OH - 2.5.
AVG = 2.78

There's a poster at Crapwagon.com who puts up some really good line graphs of IRL ratings over the seasons. Use the search feature there to find the threads where that good work appears.

Whatever source you got that chart from basically agrees with the numbers I've entered into a smart note over the last few years.

BTW, presenting ratings numbers to gomers is like playing Whack-a-Mole at the mall with your kid. Every time you play more lemmings pop up to take a beating and you are out another quarter.

I would imagine that those numbers are spot-on except that I don't remember Indy '04 being a 3.9

Wow, that's depressing.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I've seen 3.9, 4.0, or 4.1. Either way, same effect: LOUSY.
