A remake of "Willard"!

Because the original was such a good movie, of course.

It sucked, I'll leave it at that.

They're running a commerical trailer on TV for it. After seeing the trailer, ask yourself if there was any reason in hell why this movie, which was done 30 years ago, had to be done again.

That will answer your question.

This is not exactly a glowing review of the remake.

I asked the same thing when I saw the trailer for Days Of Thunder.

I mean, it was OK when I saw it the first time and it was called Top Gun, but...

I gave up on Hollywood long ago. Almost all of the major studio stuff is dreck. This summer is going to be a summer of sequels that didn't need to be made.

The last two movies I think I really liked were http://www.w3.org/TR/MathML2/glyphs/1D7/U1D745.png (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0138704) and Being John Malkovich (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0120601) .

Okay,

Ask yourself why First Blood has been remade. "Hunted" yeah, right. Even Crenna's line about "A good supply of body bags" was virtually duplicated for the new movie.

How about a semi-original idea once in a while? Tarantino's new film at least promises to be ....uh...different.

This is why I visit the theater maybe once a year.

Speaking of remakes. HERE (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=14725) comes another butchered classic!

Why do they insist on doing this sort of crap!

I recently discovered channel 550, the Independent Film Channel, on my Directv and have gotten kinda hooked on it. The independents are cranking out some pretty good stuff compared to the cookie-cutter studio crap.

Agreed. We watched "7 days in September" on that channel recently, what a gem.
