Hardly surprising - Spin has always been over the top in their love for Nirvana, Radiohead and PJ Harvey. Throw in a few token rap/hip-hop picks and there you have it.

Trying to ascribe undue significance to what is mostly the output of a committee of dumb guys is the worst kind of kitsch-think. You hit the 10 ring with that one groover. Much as I like Pink Floyd's music (recently discussed here), a bunch of guys in their 30's that were still hammering on about their schoolboy angst ruined some of the effect for me. Oh, and Dimebag Darrel may have been a hell of a guitar slinger, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't privy to a whole lot of divine wisdom. :D

yes, another vote for sonic youth, one of the best all time bands, they didn't sell much but they sure did inspire alot of bands of the era and today!!
