This just blows me away. I just learned today the little town I grew up in here in Northeastern Ohio hosted NASCAR's Memorial Day Grand National/Winston Cup/Nextel Cup race for 3 years, 1950, 1951 and 1952 and that its name was the Poor Man's 500. I saw Richard Petty talking on a IRL broadcast once about listening to the Indy 500 while in the infield of my little home town dirt track, which I couldn't believe, but I didn't know it was a top tier NASCAR race.

Makes me wonder what might have been if they expanded the track and all. They drew some pretty big crowds on occasion.

Here is the NASCAR schedule those 3 years:

Well, only if you start going by "Nappy" exclusivly. And your willing to put an "8" on one side of your back window and a "3" on the other. The Dale shrine in your front yard is entirely optional. :D :D

Cool links though!

I thought the "3" went in the back hair? ;)

Don't forget the sticker of Calvin taking a leak on the 24 car too!

Wow, several references to the old Langhorne track but 51 and 52 had races at Morristown NJ. I have no knowledge of a track there.

Morristown is famous for a cold winter George Washington spent there and now some of the most expensive real estate in the country. I now need to investigate

Thanks. cool stuff
