For those who might be uninformed considering the career accomplishments of Mr. Allmendinger and Miss Patrick, here is a comparison:

2004
One of the brightest young stars in American open-wheel racing, this Californian made his long awaited Champ Car debut moving up to the top ranks with his 2003 Toyota Atlantic Championship team RuSPORT. It only took three races for the 22-year-old rookie to find his way to the top five in Milwaukee. The next two consecutive events he finished sixth before vaulting to the top three in Vancouver, scoring his first Champ Car podium aiding the first 2-3 podium result for rookie team RuSPORT. His best career-start came in Montreal, where he started on the outside of row one in a race that saw him lead his first Champ Car career laps. Finished five of the season’s last six races in the top six, capped by a third place run in the season finale. He earned the Roshfrans Rookie-of-the-Year award by a 41-point margin, becoming the first American-born driver to claim the honor since 1991.

2003:
The 21-year-old Allmendinger captured 8 poles and eight victories in storming to the Toyota Atlantic championship, shattering track records set by drivers with names such as Jacques Villenueve, and never qualifying outside the top three… Captured the Atlantic series record for most wins in a single season by a rookie…His 2003 performance also gave him Rookie of the Year honors, as well as the Toyota Atlantic Championship title. A.J. became the second-youngest driver to win the championship, just behind Michael Andretti.

2002:
Won six races, four pole positions, and earned nine podium finishes en route to the series title in the 10-race Barber Dodge Pro Series. His lowest finish of the season was fourth place at Cleveland. Scored 188 championship points and beat second place Rafael Sperafico by a series record 68 points. His six 2002 victories also tied him with Kenny Brack for most victories in a single season. By virtue of his performance, he participated in a Ford-Cosworth Champ Car engine test alongside several CART Toyota Atlantic Championship drivers.

2001:
Earned the Barber Champ Car Karting Scholarship and finished second by two points behind Julio Campos in the Formula Dodge National Championship.



Danika Patrick
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

2005
Made her IRL IndyCar Series debut at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the Toyota Indy 300 (3/6). Patrick started ninth and was running in the top-ten when she was caught in an eight-car incident on lap 158 and knocked from the race.

2004
Announced December 8th as the driver of the #16 Argent Mortgage/Pioneer Honda/Panoz/Firestone as a third car for Rahal Letterman Racing's IRL IndyCar Series program joining Buddy Rice and Vitor Meira.

Patrick finished third in the Toyota Atlantic Championship posting 269 points and ten top-five results in 12 races in the Argent Mortgage Toyota/Swift.

She was the only driver in Atlantic's this season to complete every lap.

She became the first female driver to win a pole position in Toyota Atlantic when she collected her first Atlantic pole position for Round 5 at Portland.

She collected three podium results in 2004 finishing on the podium (3rd) at Monterrey, Mexico, second at Portland (Round 4) and third at Cleveland.

At Denver (Round 10) she captured the Argent Fast Lap Award for posting the fastest race lap en route to a fourth place finish.

In October she has tested Rahal Letterman Racing's IndyCar's at Homestead Speedway and at Kentucky Speedway.

2003
Patrick piloted the Argent Mortgage Company Toyota/Swift to a sixth place finish in the Toyota Atlantic Championship. She claimed a pair of podium results and five top-five results in her rookie campaign.

She became the first female to post a podium (top-three) result in the 30-year history of the Atlantic series with a third place finish at Monterrey, Mexico (3/23/03).

Posted top-five results at Cleveland, Trois Rivieres and Denver.

She posted a season best second place finish at Miami in the season finale.

Ran a single ALMS race for the Britsh Prodrive team in late June at Raod Atlanta.

2002
Patrick signed a multi-year driving contract with Team Rahal. She was tabbed as the team's driver for a Toyota Atlantic entry in 2003. As preparation for her full-season effort in 2003 she ran a limited Barber-Dodge Pro Series schedule of five races.

She made her debut at Toronto, qualifying eleventh and finishing seventh (7/7/02).

Collected her highest finish of the Barber-Dodge Pro Series with a fourth place finish at Vancouver (7/28/02).

Tested a Busch Grand National car with PPC Racing in June.

Captured the pole for the 2002 Long Beach Grand Prix Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race and won the pro division, topping former Trans Am champion Tommy Kendall and IRL driver Sarah Fisher.

2001
Won the Gorsline Scholarship Award for the top upcoming road racing driver.

Recognized as the top female open-wheel driver with international experience.

Competed in the England, driving in the British Zetek Formula Ford Championship.

Returned to the USA searching for a top open-wheel ride. Had successful test runs in USAC Midget, Toyota Atlantic and an ALMS car.

2000
Finished second at the Formula Ford Festival in England, the highest ever finish for an American in the event.

Drove for Andy Welch in the British Zetek Formula Ford Championship in England and for Haywood Racing in the European Formula Ford Series.

Served as the lead test driver for Haywood Racing and Mygale Factory Team.

1999
Finished ninth in the Formula Vauxhall Championship in England, her first full season in the UK.

1998
Made her debut in England at age 16 in the Formula Vauxhall Winter Series.

In a nutshell, Allmendinger has won 2 championships, 12 poles, and 14 races. Patrick has won 0 championships, 2* poles, and 1* race. (*- GPLB Pro Celebrity Race).

You forgot one thing.

Danica has had sponsorship since she entered Atlantics. Dinger has not.

Ain't saying that's right, though. I think Danica has proven she's worthy of sponsorship. AJ has too.

But I think I've figured out a way to ensure that A.J. gets the press coverage he is due. The sad thing is that's about what it really would take. Remember, nobody ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the American public. Look at the ratings for the reality shows if you need any more evidence.
