this morning there is a Champcar Semi Trailer (with the prase Fast Lap on the side) and what appears to be a team hauler (it says something like canary on the side), with a yellow pit cart set up and some kind of formula car that has yellow engine covers (could not see the car itself) on one of the taxiways at Burke Lakefront in Cleveland with what appeared to be pace cars and ambulance and a bunch of people. Anyone know whats up?

The Champ Car promotions department doing their job?

There does seem to be more of this going on since that thing in NYC last year.

I thought about a 2 seater after my original post. In the past (last year at least) they would run the 2 seater around the track at dawn and take on-air talent from the 4 local TV morning shows on rides. This morning I did not see that on any of the shows but maybe they are getting ready to do it tomorrow morn?

It is great free PR since the TV shows eat up getting to put one of their reporters in the car where they can mike him as they take him around the track at high speeds.

Shouldn't they be in Portland, or were they there already?

I did the two seater when it was all yellow/canary funds . It went to mexico with a sticker-paint job for roshfrans, and is probably back to all yellow now. Its a 2-seat converted reynard, late 90's era. I forget exactly which one. 99 I think. Herbie said he was taking it to cleveland, but it didnt even occur to me that cleveland wasnt our next race!

BTW...That pit cart was among the crappiest things I have ever had to paint. It may not look like much, but it has the square footage of a van. It took forever.

It looked great from a 1/4 mile away.

Well apparently they sent S. B. here to take people for a spin. They had a little thing on the radio with him talking about the track and the reporter talked about the ride.

They sent Katherine Legge along with Bourdais. They wrote it up on the Champ Car web site (http://www.champcarworldseries.com/News/Article.asp?ID=9101)

And one in the back seat would make the CC 2 seater into a Menage a Trois

Good article on the 2 seater at Cleveland: The Plain Dealer (http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/sports/1108982151120080.xml&coll=2&thispage=1)

Uh-oh...

The only mishap on June 7 is cosmetic. The radiant sun-yellow Champ Car has a ding in the driver’s cockpit, from the steel stairstep that allows guest passengers to climb in with their dignity intact.
