and probably a perfect day for Futility.

Please feel free to add to the Foyt Futility Watch in the course of the day if you come across anything noteworthy.

Well, I'm going to a Tiger game today..... Like Margoils said, there wasn't ballgames to go to 10 years ago.

There is so much more for people to do nowadays that they just don't go to the speedway anymore. Its amazing how this baseball thing exploded in 10 short years, when everyone used to just watch indy cause it was the only thing around........

I'm building an herb garden. The explosion in TV gardening shows has inspired many racefans to abandon motorsports for horticulture.

For me its the cooking shows. Up until 10 years ago people didn't cook, but BAM today I will cook.

This afternoon I'm off to the opera to see Dominick Argento's The Voyage of Edgar Allen Poe. Nobody went to the opera before Tony George let NASCAR cross the Sacred Bricks.

I'll be at the Pacer's Game. Not a Pacer fan but hey free is free and it is Game 4 so, let me see, a bunch of overpaid kids shooting ball instead of each other or FINDY, pretty easy decision for me. Watch for flying cars a debris anyone that goes.

Playing Forza Motorsport on Xbox until I go to work at 4. I remember when Indy qualifying used to be my favorite part of the month.

I'll be watching porn all day... the increase in availability of porn over the past ten years has been amazing. There was a time when I couldn't get porn on a Sunday and was resigned to have to watch Indy qualifying.

I'll have my usual preference to anything IRL, just sitting in the garage shoving little wood splinters up underneath my fingernails. Much more enjoyable than watching the IRL.

Wow. I snuck a peek while channel surfing to the Tribe game. Did they forget to open the gates @ IMS? The place was freaking empty. I guess those 8K fans in the stands @ Phoenix decide not to stay home this year? Or it could be that the trip from Montegi is too long now, considering the price of gas. :gomer:

How pathetic. :shakehead

Great crowd, I wasn't expecting a sellout! :gomer:
But seriously, has the sacred brickyard has been downgraded to a couple thousand (hundred?) gomers on pole day? :shakehead

Maybe the :gomer: s got confused and thought it was pole day @ the Classy today. Anyone check out the crowd there today compared to IMS? :gomer: :gomer:

You'd have to get ahold of Al Unser Jr. to find out.

Remember when the second largest crowd in auto racing was pole day at Indy? The folks at RACER have their work cut out for them.

I think I've got it...the lack of fans @ the track was due to Star Wars III! Oh wait...that's next weekend. (better save that excuse for the race itself) :gomer:

"The race itself"....it'll be interesting to see how much aluminum we see. My guess is another Indy tradition will fall by the wayside, the large tickets with the previous years winner on them. It won't be long before ims stops printing tickets all together and they just have a guy collecting a $10 cover charge at the door like some dumpy bar with a cheesy Boston cover band.
