These report says 20k at the race but I scanned through a tape of the race and there is no frigin way it was half that.

The place seats 72k and if they had every seat in the sections that were open occupied they wouldn’t reach 20k. There was no way that 2 out of 7 seats at the place was even open to people.

Has anyone seen pictures taken of the crowd head on?

Also it is reported Chip didn't bother to attend his first regular series Earl race, but choose NASCAR over IRL.

This article says that a British road-racing devil will take Hornish’s seat when he moves to NASCAR. (BTW note how Arie Jr. does about the same in the ISP then he did in the SCCA’s Runoffs or FF2000, which tells you something about the talent level in the IPS)

The Speed article is a hoot:

"In the second season as a feeder series for the IRL IndyCar Series, the Infiniti Pro Series is beginning to make a presence. Most recognized in its rookie season for producing A.J. Foyt IV and the crash that injured actor Jason Priestley, the Infinti Pro Series now benefits from circumstances surrounding the IndyCar Series."

Wow. IPS is noteworthy for "producing" a driver less talented than Larry Foyt.

Amazing!

And how obvious is it that ABC sets up its cameras so as to avoid shots of the grandstands? I too would love to see a straight on shot of the sections where people were allowed to be seated.

I'd rather they show the CARS effectively.

If the lack of people hasn't stopped them by now, it won't stop them anytime soon.

It was VERY obvious that camera angles were very purposeful. I saw no shot of the crowd head-on at all.

ABC has developed camera angles for crowd shots to a fine art to protect the image of the IRL.

"protect the image of the IRL"

And for that I am deeply indebted to ABC.;)
