Apparently ESPN's lead-in to the delayed broadcast of the .1rl race had footage of the winner doing donuts and Franchitti crashing. I can't decide who the bigger idiots are, the crack prodution team hired to produce the race broadcast or the fans that are still loyal to this nonsense after a decade of lies and bait & switch by TG.

The gomerati are a bit overwrought. :gomer:

Not surprised that Disney care so little, they pump in $20m/year and all they get is ratings that are lower than test patterns and public broadcasting telethons. The best TV deal in the history of open wheel racing and the results are that the results are given before the race? I recall espn2 did a similar thing with a CART race where the winner was announced on the ticker (IIRC Kellner came up with the Kellner Device to cover up the ESPN ticker  )

No other TV network will give the earl as mucj money as Disney does. If one goes through the numbers in terms of cost per race & the number of viewers received that the earl TV deal is the same cost as NASCAr Cups, and we all know how expensive the NACSAR cup tv costs

What is ahppening with the earl is the same that happens when a rock band or jetliner that is promoted to be the next big thing actually fall falt on their face. the EARL- the great white hype of open wheel racing :gomer:

No spoiler, Franchiti crashing and some wank poser doing donuts could be any race in the past two years. :gomer:

question for you all:

if the race was tape delayed, why air the race with commercial pip? are they trying to dupe people into thinking that the race is live or are the people too stupid to think otherwise? or is it a combination of the two? :gomer:

It still has to fit in the timeslot, so unless they cut some of the race out (which they did anyway) they need to do PIP in order to show every lap within the 2.5 (?) hours. Its also a marketing gimick to show the fans how much ABC and the IRL are innovative and care for the fans. :gomer:

The big question is why air it at all?
