Speculation that Newman/Haas Racing would expand its Indianapolis 500 program to two cars this year was confirmed today, when Centrix Financial–associate sponsor of Newman/Haas' Champ Car program–announced that the company will sponsor two Newman/Haas entries for this year’s Memorial Day classic. Bruno Junqueira will make his fourth start in the event while Sebastien Bourdais, reigning champion of the Champ Car World Series and winner of this past weekend's season opener at Long Beach, will make his debut at the Brickyard in a second Newman/Haas entry. Both cars will be Honda-powered Panoz chassis. :flame:

It's interesting they are using honda power after their past relationship with toyota. I wonder how much factory support honda will provide them?

Suckage indeed. Not surprised by Fat Carl, but a bit miffed by PLN's apparent complicity. So much for "kicking them where they deserve to be kicked".

Would be pretty funny, though, if they both pulled out about 2 days before the 497.5. But I doubt Centrix would risk its rep to do that.

At least Champ Car doesn't go into spin overdrive like the irl and deny the existence of what is still the biggest open-wheel race in the Great Lakes region.

btw, Newman-Haas could make a bundle with this whole deal and I'd guess that is what it is mostly about. The Chassis' are already there (and at least one was free), Honda and all that entails, Centrix writes a nice check and then the prize money.

Champ Car is taking the high road and they will be relentlessly classy about this whole thing. In public Champ Car, as an organization, is not going to slam the IRL. All while KK will be kicking some TG ass behind closed doors. They are going to be professional and not get in a public pissing match with the IRL.

It would be freakin funny as hell, but I don't think The Idiot would ever let that happen. A last minute computer chip change, a tech inspection failure, whatever... It won't happen. More likely would be some pre pole day shenanagins to put his lumps safely in the field. I'm not saying he would do that, but... we'll see....

TG would not resort to such measures. After all, "33 is just a number". He would simply expand the starting field.

Regarding immunity to Indyitis, Haas, Forsythe, and Coyne are the only CC teams that were around in 1995. Forsythe and Coyne will never play in IRL land, I hope. All the rest of the CC teams are new since 1996, and selected Champcar to participate in.

Everything else aside, for those who care, and FWIW, I think Blinky and SeaBass have an excellent shot of winning the thing. My guess is Blinky helps SeaBass get acclomated for a couple days and Bourdais becomes the threat to win it.

Because Honda says so. And Honda won't be in the IRL anymore. And FatCarl has a chance to be a Honda factory team in CCWS come 07.

See, Honda (like Yoda) hasn't denied they are leaving, since "the Kirby leak". Crap, we're woking on nearly 5 days now, and not a ****ing peep out of those guys. :saywhat:

So maybe while the Yoda boys are ready for NASCAR and conquering GM on every front, maybe Honda likes the idea of running a US OW series that has races in Canada, Mexico, Australia, Korea and China (with SA a likely add in 06). They see the rejuvenated CCWS series, witnessed LBGP's enthusiasm, appreciate the diehard committed fans, and likewise see a failed Vision :gomer: in Homestead, Phoenix...and beyond.....they have to spend that 100million a year somewhere. Might as well do it wher someone is actually watching.

The XFT is a rock solid motor, and Homoco's own 2.65 liter T is just sitting on a shelf somewhere. What's the big harm in inviting a little competition in the CCWS field? Where's FTG's amazing new motor spec? Will Honda fund the entire EARL field in 07? :crickets:

The teams get the fans back, the fans get their racing back, Yoda moves on, and what about FTG?

Well, he gets his race back. If it truly is and was all about Indy, the idiotgrandson should realize, this is his last chance at saving that race. The IRL has failed on every level, every version of the Vision. Maybe its time someone like the boys from Honda knock some sense into him.

Oh no you don't. Fonda and Foyota. We don't needem. They ruined the good thing that was going on here in irl land. Remember those .000000000000000012 side-by-side finishes back in 01 & 02? Have ya seen many of those since the nancy boy ex-Cart drivers came over riding in their overpriced rice eater machines. No way, they ain't got the balls to run it into the wall if that's what it takes to put a rise in the laps of irl fans everywhere. Hells bells, I heard the reason for all the mistakes by the ex-Cart RR racers at St. Pete was caused by the steering wheels catching on a stiffy between their legs. We need the good old days back. Someone will come around and build an engine for the series, how could they not? We'll get teams too, Ronnie Hemelgarn has been a talkin to that Billy Banks fella, he's gonna get the Tae Bo folks back on board and his cars will have a cool new paint scheme, flames painted on the REAR of the car. It's all cause we got Indy and you don't, we got value in Indy and you don't. Evolution baby, evolution. It's all about Indy and you can't understand that cause you just don't know what Indy means. :gomer:
