 FORD
It's nice see that Ford wants to re-up for a "multi-year" relationship. I hope this means they want Ford on the cam covers of a 1.8l turbo derived from the F1 V8 currently under development.
Damn. This might mean I'll have to stop with the Fix-Or-Replace-Daily jokes and switch to First-On-Race-Day!
Thank you Ford
Now, how about making a car I would consider buying?

So, you wouldn't take a Ford GT if it was offered to you? ;)

If they gave me one I suppose I could force myself to drive it. :) Hmm, make mine red please.

This is a very good positive for Champ Car. I do think it's a little 'weird' that, since Ford sold Cosworth to KK and GF, that Ford is re-upping. Maybe a tech partnership can be worked out so that the valvecovers and bonnet can have a Ford/Cosworth logo on it again.

Mazda
My parents bought their first ever new car over the weekend, I pushed for a 3 but they got a Sentra. Still, Mazda probably has one of the better lineups out there, and its only going to get better.

2005 S-TYPE R
The adrenaline rush of 390 horsepower and 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Breathtaking off-the-line performance from a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. A fierce grip on the road, and the agility of an Olympic athlete. The S-TYPE R possesses looks and luxury as stunning as its supercharged performance.

Automatic Transmission? That just killed it. I prefer manual.
OK, Let's start working on a "Formula Focus" road/street race series to entertain the tuner crowd and ween them off the crack that is drifting! 50 little Ford Cosworths careening around Long Beach to the delight of Hector, Tokiko AND Bob! :)

They are staying on the engine. Just read this on Speed.
Ford Motor Company will retain its presence on the Ford-Cosworth XFE engines that power every car in the Champ Car World Series, continuing as the exclusive engine supplier to the series – a relationship that enters its third season with the 2005 campaign.

Not so long ago Europeans could walk into a Ford dealer and drive off with an Escort-Cosworth. I would imagine that the problem over here would be that they wouldn't want a factory stock Focus humiliating a Mustang. :o

Between Ford, Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar and Aston Martin Ford has a car worth considering in just about every segment of the market.

Been a proud Ford owner most of my life. Glad to have them re-up and back on board.
Now to TF to watch the Wilke meltdown.

I wouldnt own a focus is that name was attached to a Ferrari. I simply refuse to ever drive a car called a Focus. Not to mention the car it IS attached to is hideously ugly in every way. There are a few car names I would NEVER own, but focus ranks high up there...right next to Fiesta, Aspire, and Charade. Oh, and Rendezvous. Ugh.
Oh, and for the record, I own 2 fords and a mercury...But none made post-'66, so I guess that doesnt count?

who would want to buy a jaguar contour-type?

and coincidentally (or maybe not) Ford had one of the worst car names ever in the Probe. I'm with you, car names matter.

Don't know yet because I haven't driven one, but I love the looks of it. The Contour was a great car in V6 SE/SVT form and the X-Type is the only way you can get the next generation in the U.S.

The Contour SVT, the successor to the original SHO Taurus which had an almost cult like following. The V6 was designed, and might have been built by none other than Yamaha.
OK, then we have an RX 8 race, followed by the Focus race. I can't envision the Volvo or Jag in a single marque event, though. Of course the announcement today that Ford will let go a thousand white collar types is not encouraging news for hopes of any new race programs.

I don't know. But it does kick ass for a truck. All black leather interior, Flow thru Center Console. Some biggie stereo called "Audiophile" with nice sub system built in and 18" machined wheels. Beats the piss out of one of those "Avalanche " thingies.

That's with a V8 and rear wheel drive. The production Focus is around 2600 - pretty close to average for the class.

If that was the one tooting around Laguna Seca last year, it doesn't sound like 420 hp. Now the Mustang they had, that's what 500 hp should sound like.
