This guy is an independent singer/songwriter. A buddy of mine sent me the link because the website was designed and built by one of the best Flash teams around, SOFAKE. So I'm checking out the site (it's been four or five months ago now) and love the uniqueness. Then Billy grabs my interest. He's a bit of a, well, let's just say I bet Billy has a flowerless vase behind the couch.
It's a funny site without being over the top. Then I listened to the four or five songs he streams. At first I notice the low production quality and the 'looseness' of the band. But it works brilliantly for the songs. The first song, Frozen Through is a pop didy with a hook that has stuck in my head since I first heard it. The other songs are solid alternative entries in which I hear strong influences of Beck and Elliot Smith (the song Belly Up sounds like an Elliot cover song.)

Great site design, loads of chuckles and the tunes are, well cool. Definitely worth checking out if you have some time (you'll want to spend some time there. It's not really a two minute kinda of site.) I find myself going back every few weeks.

Saw Billy Harvey, Steve Poltz, and Bob Schneider last night. Good show.

For those who don't know Billy, (which is probably everyone) he's also the lead guitar player in Bob Schneider's band - and produced Bob's latest album. Billy opened the show, and of course played with Bob.

Also on the bill was Steve Poltz (who is also joining them tonight in Madison) - who is awesome if you ever get to see him (and he isn't too drunk) Billy Harvey also produced Poltz's album (after Bob introduced them) so it was a pretty cool night with 3 great friends all playing together.

It sounds like Billy is opening for Bob this tour, so check it out. If you're near Madison tonight, check it out while Poltz joins them. He's got Stinky with him playing the cardboard box. (Stinky was the drummer in Poltz's band The Rugburns.) He does things with a cardboard box that must be seen.

If you want to see Bob or Steve, check out their site: http://www.bobschneidermusic.com http://www.poltz.com

Sounds cool. Thanks for the info. I got an email from billy a few weeks ago. Seems like a really down to earth, nice guy. I like his hooks.

Not to be confused, of course, to former CART/NASCAR driver and jailbird Billie Harvey...

Anyone know what happened to him?
