Queensland Premier Peter Beattie announced 26-year-old Gold Coast talent Marcus Marshall will drive in the 2005 Champ Car World Series for Team Australia, owned by Gold Coast businessmen Craig Gore and John Fish in association with the US-based motorsport identity Derrick Walker.

“Sponsorship of Team Australia by the new Aussie Vineyards venture is a smart way of promoting Queensland, the Gold Coast, a fledgling industry, and a sport,” Mr Beattie said.

Cool, Aussie Vineyards. Now there is a sponsor I can likely support.

Looks like Walker is denying the rumor that his team was actually sold.

“Walker Racing is still 100 per cent owned by me and continues to look for business opportunities. As the months passed the idea began to gain support from Craig and he introduced another businessman, John Fish, who has major plans to introduce his Australian wines (Aussie Vineyards) to the US market.”
