Been watching the news report for the past hour. USGS report on the 8.2 mag. event:

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsww/Quakes/usweax.htm

Tsunami bulletin (http://www.prh.noaa.gov/ptwc/wmsg) (which reports it as an 8.5 mag. shaker)

Evacs issued for Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.

Reported to be at a depth of 18.6 miles ("moderate depth"), whereas the Dec. 26 quake was at about 6. Being called an aftershock of the first. But from the sound of the wire reports there is a far lesser chance of any tsunami activity. So far no reports on casualties and few on damage. So far the only thing close is the report of electricty cut in Banda Aceh.

Let's just hope this hasn't caused much damage or stirred up lesser tidal activity. :(

Edit: Read on CNN:
Sri Lanka also issued a warning that the earthquake may spawn a tsunami that would reach Sri Lanka's shores by about 3 a.m. Tuesday (4 p.m. ET Monday) and urged those living in low lying areas to move to higher ground

Aren't we being sued over the last one? I thought I read or heard that somewhere.

Anyway, good luck to anyone in that area.

Energy predicted to head south towards Mauritius. No major tsunamis reported, just a small one as Dando mentioned.

IIRC, a few scum of the earth ummm, i mean lawyers, began a class action suit against the USGS and the US on behalf of families in the affected area. Something about not warning the countries after they detected the earthquake.

I could be wrong..... Its been a while since I heard that.

They were notified, there just wasn't a network in place for them to act on the information.
