CHARLESTON - The SIU defense finally caught up with the high-powered offense Saturday, as the Salukis moved to 3-0 courtesy of a dominating 34-6 road victory over Eastern Illinois University.

...

While the solid performance by the Salukis was a group effort, the 8,312 in attendance at O'Brien Stadium could not help but notice the individual exploits of Saluki freshman running back Tom Koutsos.

- Finally, this writer guessed last week's IRL attendance at Phoenix at no more than 5,000 and it turns out the official number from promoters ISC was 8,312. Sorry for the miscalculation.

8,312 sold? Robin was being generous for the number of fans in the house then. ISC must be getting ready to show the IRL the gate if they put out such a precise number themselves instead of letting the inflated estimates float around uncorrected.

Heck, even the Expos drew more than that last year.

But remember kids, there's nothing wrong with the product.

I think you nailed that one, Pchall.

And now back to Marlo Klain for the guest list...

I believe when Robin calculated he didn't take into account the size of Kosuke Matsura's family :gomer:

It's done!!! ISC wants earl, the unpolished turd, to change dates. earl. the unpolished turd, doesn't wanna change dates. They can't agree, so they'll just part as friends.

Another great OW track, killed by ftg. :shakehead

Another great OW track, killed by ftg Yeah, there was a conflict because the Chandler Senior Center wanted that date for their annual flea market/cruize-in track rental...

This gets back to what I figured the ISC/NACAR strategy was from the get go. Encourage the Indy Idiot to start his own show, kill the promotion on CART events and give them the boot, then wait (not long) for the EARL to crater. The only surprises were that Kalkovan & company materialized CCWS from the ashes of CART. Otherwise it would have been game, set, match. We very nearly had zero open wheel racing within 10yrs, and it could happen yet.

the IRL still sux.

By the way, exactly what was the reason the IRL was formed?

SurfaceUnits

It was formed to give foreign road racers the chance to drive crapwagons in front of 8312 bored fans and one bored league/team owner, I think. :shakehead

The University of Texas' baseball stadium fits more people.

High school football here has greater attendance.

My high school student body was 1/2 that number.
