One of Europe's most talented and promising young, female open-wheel drivers will compete for Polestar Racing Group this season as Great Britain's Katherine Legge joins the Toyota Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama with a full-season entry for 2005.

Legge, who shined during a February test session with the Polestar team, will pilot the #12 Toyota/Swift/Yokohama car this season with PKV Racing of the Champ Car World Series serving as primary sponsor for the determined 24-year-old racer. Legge's 240 HP Atlantic machine will carry the new-look PKV Racing red and white color scheme this season as she hopes to compete for the championship for Polestar in her rookie Atlantic campaign.

Talented enough to be a polestar? I don't think so.

Boy, that was quick.

Before anyone goes running off saying she cute or otherwise, and that there are 100 males more deserving of the ride, let's all remember that cars run on money and even the guys have to appeal to sponsors and sponsors like spokespeople who don't drool on themselves and who draw eyes to them. Both male and female. Racing at the front draws eyes, but so do a few other things. If she is competitive, I'll accept her.

And FWIW, I like her. Not as bonny as Danica. And she's something of a straight A student too.

My 9 year old daughter was disappointed that Danica moved to the IRL because she won't get to see her race or see her in person again. I won't mind if she adopts Ms. Legge as her new favorite.

^^^ right now i'm adopting her as my new favorite!! She's beautiful and probably a good driver. hopefully, she won't be as much of a pre-madonna like Danica was.

Looks say a thousand words and she certainly does not appear to be the look at me type. ALthough she is pretty cute.

Maybe they;ll put together an "attractive" pr package to sell Atlantics as well as CCWS. J/K. ;)

She's 2 tenths off the pole in her first qualifying session. The rest of the top four are not exactly wankers. Pretty good job in her first qualifying session.

Don't get you knickers in a twist SOG, I'm just saying that if you're first race is a win, you've set the bar awfuly high for yourself; actually I'd like to see her win again. Regardless, I wish her and PKV the best for the rest of the season.

Pretty amusing to read this thread from the beginning, given what we saw out there on the track today. If you were not in the stands, be sure to catch it on the "telly." You'll see some racing. She may be working for PVK but she races like PT!

I loved the interview with KK during the ChampCar race.

Kevin walked in the lobby of Cosworth as theywere taking it over and she was just sitting there. He asked her why she was there, and she said she wanted to drive for him. He told her he would get her a test in an Atlantic and she did well. He told her he would sponsor her for a few races and see how it goes. He knew she could compete, but never thought she could win! :D

“It's been a change of attitude for me, for sure, because after Long Beach and especially after Monterrey, Mexico, I kind of just got a bit down and a bit frustrated and didn't realize, you know, why I wasn't at the top of every time sheet,” she admitted.

Now do you see what I meant SOG?
