"I think in 10 years you'll find the other open wheel series won't even merit a footnote, it doesn't now."

Reportedly that's what Eddie Cheever had to say on RPM2Night last night.

This from a guy who hardly merits a footnote himself.

82 starts
0 poles
0 wins

We can only wonder what else he'll come up with as his team continues to swirl down the drain.

I can confirm what he said....

Eddie Underachiever: 0-for-career where it really counts in formula cars...

If I were Mikey, I'd take that as an insult. what a putz.

Cheever's whole racing career has been a series of verbaly written checks that his talent couldn't cash.

But, but, but, he won Indy!

Cheever's a pinhead. Why does anybody even react?

Hey! Lay off Cheever. Without him, Rachels Potato chips wouldn't be where they are now.

....BTW, what ever happened to Rachels Potato Chips anyway?? ;)

They got ate.

Agree with Railbird. Eddie da Lip is the Michael Waltrip of formula cars.

Eddie's career pretty much peaked when he quit Ferrari.

Never good enough to be a number one in F1, too old to do anything by the time he got to CART, and only successful due to weak fields in the IRL.

I'm surprised you guys get all riled up when he speaks.

He was clearly referring to the IPS.

C'mon, wrch...what's not to get riled up about when he spews that particular nonsense?

I doubt Benedict Michael would take it so far.....

Eddie must like to be laughed at.

:saywhat: Under-a-Cheever never drove for Ferrari.

Because he quit. He was signed to a testing contract with Ferrari at like age 19.

Ferrari hired some Canadian named Villeneuve to drive instead of Cheever.

Cheever, in the first of what would become a career trend of bad moves, asked to be let out of his contract so he could race elsewhere.

When they put him in the spotlight like he's actually done something of consequence in his racing career and the main thing he does is put down ChampCar, yes I get a bit riled. Hell, if they put Gilligan up there and he said the same thing, it'd still torque my 'roids a bit...

Eh, in his prime, in his best drive for Renault, he wasn't as good as Prost.

You can say that for a lot of drivers.

Unlike a lot of drivers, though, he suffers from Robby Gordon-itis both in & out of the car, and that hurt his career too.

Eddie Cheever was never contracted to test or drive for Ferrari. He was never a "Ferrari driver". He was offered one test.

What has hurt his career is that he could never win at the level of competition he chose.... until the IRL. His ONLY wins have come against what can only be considered the weakest fields ever put together in a so-called professional racing series. He backed down the career ladder until he found a level at which a good percentage of the others sucked as badly as he did. End of story.

Not as good as Prost... He's not as good as Prost's gardener.

He doesn't have half the talent of Robby Gordon. Gordon has won races at two of the top levels of motorsports in the world, C^RT and NASCAR. Undera has only ever beat a bunch of IRL wankers.
