Steve Shunck Director of Public Relations and Tom McGovern Public Relations Specialist, announced Monday I guess....nothing else about them in the local rag.

Schunk was the director of PR for the Michigan Speedway and a former CART employee.

Not sure about McGovern's role. Why didn't they promote Eric Mauk?

At least they got rid of Wendy Gabers. She was useless.

Not to mention a NASCAR employee (same role) in between the two. Glad to see he's come to his senses and bucked the trend. :)

McGovern's primary role is to handle website content.

Shunk was CART's TV guy during the ABC/ESPN days, before its world started caving in. He lives near MIS and used to throw a huge bash for the media the weekend of the race.

All-in-all I think it's a good move. Shunk knows a lot of people and is very capable.

I've heard this too --- and more. Something to the effect of "poseur" if you get my drift. Pity.

Hey, Eric Mauk is cool. He said back at 7G I'm his hero for the jokes I made about Mark C or Liz Shaw, or some other fake journalist. :D :D :D

I thought Erik went from Speed web guy to CART web guy or press release guy or something. Did he get bumped up to PR liason or something along those lines? I didn't think he was important enough to be worthless. If a front line employee is worthless, it usually means their manager is too.

Eric Mauk is still on the scene:

Don't know about the "poseur" and other complaints; I enjoyed the way Eric handled the Fan Forums last year, though.

Eric has done everything well except his WWF impression at Las Vegas.

You forgot to make jokes about Bill McGuire. There went your creds....

Now the predecessor to Steve Shunck, now she was not too good and yes, I was guilty of using her name, but not now since she's been rendered immaterial.

Welllllll, not to quibble, but there is some professional disagreement with both of those statements that has come through the ranks. No offense; just relating the fact of the matter.

Which statement? Erik Mauk?

Let's all remember that Mr Mauk seems still to be among the CCWS employed. Having said that, I'll stick a pin in. (Do as I say; don't do as I do.)

I couldn't stand the Las Vegas treatment he gave the announcing. One of the myriad of reasons I'm not going back.

As I said, both statements. I'm not giving my own personal opinion on any of these people; just telling you I've heard criticism from official and professional sources.
