We have been toying with the idea of going to the F1 race this year in Montreal as a weekend getaway with two families. I noticed that children under 11 are admitted free to General Admission with a paying adult (1:1).

Are there decent sight lines from GA areas? Where might the best places to sit/stand be?

The kids will be 5,4,3 & 1yrs old. Will they be able to see well from GA areas?

Where do you recommend staying that will be family friendly? (I was last in Montreal about 9 yrs ago, so the areas are probably a little fuzzy, but we last stayed at a Best Western near the Hard Rock and a nice restaurant named Guy and Dodo.)

We've been talking about going to an F1 race, and I can't bring myself to grease FTG's pockets, so I suggested making a weekend of it in Montreal. But, being that the race is the week after Milwaukee, it may be difficult to swing back to back race weekends...

Thanks

GA's not as great as it used to be, it used to be great and you could look down on the senna curve, but then they blocked off access to that to silver members only, w/ GA you can camp out near the chicanes on the backsides, and *might* be able to squeeze in between stands at casino hairpin, but alot of the footpaths to the front side of the track are restricted as gold access only, you could get access maybe to the front straight before the pit entrance chicane, but the cars are going so fast there it's not worth it, your best bet is probably the chicanes on the backside if you're going the GA route

Here's the deal. Just go the USGP. It costs about nothing to go, especially since you live in IL. The "racetrack" is very fan friendly and walkable...great for kids. It cost $25 for a fri/sat ticket and you can buy expensive race tickets for nothing on the street sunday morning. FTG won't get the money because he's a dumbass and Bernie will end up with it. I've done it every year and it's great.
