View Full Version : Laguna Seca Officially Off 2005 Sched.
Not like it came as a big surprise but it sure is disappointing to lose a track like that. :(
Per E-Mail:
Due to the continued delay by Champ Car World Series, SCRAMP is removing Champ Car from our official schedule and will be moving on to other alternatives.
Coming in 2005...
U.S. Sports Car Invitational/Rolex Sports Car Series - April 29-May 1
Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix/MotoGP World Championship - July 8-10
32nd Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races - August 19-21
Monterey Sports Car Championships/American Le Mans Series - October 14-16

The fans decided the future before Champ Car. Just another good ol days track.

Of course. Now I know how the midwesterners feel having lost both RA & MO. On the bright side, I just saved myself a few hundred bucks towards next year's budget and there's still Long Beach and Las Vegas. Here's hoping Winter Testing at Vegas pans out.
I need a fix, man. I need it baaaad!

I saw the writing on the wall, but this is a bitter disappointment after being told, flat out, by Gill Campbell that Champ Car would be back at Laguna Seca in 2005.
This blows goats. We're losing a showpiece of American road racing for a piece-of-**** 1.27 mile parking lot autocross track.
Bogus to the max, dude.

My sentiments exactly. I'm very glad I was able to see the champ cars at Laguna Seca last year before it was too late. Hopefully I'll get the same chance at Road America before they dump it for a parking lot race at the Mall of America..
What a sad thing to happen. After reading this, I went over some old, scanned (fairly poor quality) pictures that my wife and I took over the years. I feel lucky to have seen Mario's last race at Laguna Seca, as well as a bunch of other great memories:
