Scott Mayer lands a Indy ride (http://www.jsonline.com/sports/race/dec04/284807.asp)

Good to see ol' AJ is giving a deserving Murican driver a shot to run DFL.

Franklin’s Scott Mayer, who thought his run in the Indy Racing League might have been finished during a lackluster 2003, said Thursday that he had the backing to make a run at the Indianapolis 500 with A.J. Foyt’s team next May.

Sponsorship comes from ABC Supply Co., a Beloit-based company that is the nation’s largest distributor of construction materials and tools for building contractors.

He's raced before? Never heard of him.

Will Foyt even have a team come May '05?

I'm actually looking forward to the 2005 497.5 because it's gonna be such a cluster****. How many cars, maybe 25? How much of the practice and qualifying time will be spent sweeping up Crapwagon shards....maybe 25 %. Will Sammich throw in the towel on live TV? What will FAF, FMA and Mr. Rahole have to say about the future when bugeyed Arooty gets in their faces? It's gonna be quite a show

That's how lackluster his 2003 season was.

Wasn't Mayer the guy who either flunked out of, or couldn't go fast enough to pass ROP last year?

I believe he ran out of talent on his first 2-3 gear upshift during his ROP day in the sun.

Wore those cool pants with the yellow racing stripes down the inside of the legs.

career stats (http://www.indyracing.com/indycar/drivers/driver_bios.php?driver_id=143)

you'll notice an interesting lack of actual racing.

AJ promised AJ IV he'd give him a team mate that would make him look spectacular in comparison !! ;)

Favorite place to eat is a “good” steakhouse. Particularly enjoys St. Elmo’s in Indianapolis and Ruth’s Chris locations around the country.

...Scott and his wife Susanne are also active supporters of PETA..

Make up your mind, buddy. ;)

Even most of the TF'ers recognized this guy as a wankersupreme when he came around the first time. Probably the all-time worst in the IRL.

Sounds almost like AJ has heard that someone, somewhere still respects him and has set out to correct that.

According to Jayski, AJ might be running a truck team for Larry.

The futility continues...

Scott Mayer

Yes, that's right... three starts, 55 laps completed, three crashes.

Even Shiggy wasn't *that* bad.

Guess he has raced:
1974-78
- Competed in Wisconsin regional snowmobile oval races, winning four times.

I stand corrected.

So now the IRL licensing requirements really are just a wallet and a pulse, I guess.

Well look at that. . . an up and comer from the oval ranks. I guess the vision is finally working.

Bothers me more that this tool can pick up a well paying sponsor, but REAL drivers with REAL potential get the shaft.

I am considering making it my lifes work to change crap like this.....
