How about a dozen race prepped new Mustangs driven by retired Champcar and Trans Am heroes? Let the old guys have at it after quals on Saturday and send the crowd out to dinner and the bars really happy. I'd give Cleveland, MKE, and RA the torch after a show like that. :)

That would be pretty expensive. They'd have to scrap the cars after each event and those old-timers would need chicks, booze and fancy hotel rooms.

... those old-timers would need chicks, booze and fancy hotel rooms.

Didn't they get enough of that in their prime?

And who do you propose should pay for all of this? ;)

Does this sound familiar.....$500,000.00 Jaguars...........retired race car drivers........crashfest central........concrete walls vs carbon fiber!!!

But they did have fun!!!

"Fast Masters."

What a brutally horrid idea that was... unless you get your jollies by watching a bunch of over-the-hill hacks destroy expensive carbon-fiber cars on a short oval.

Funny, that must be why I liked it

Would have been better had they put diamonds on the front of each car. ;)

Why not do a Ford GT series like the Porsche Cup? Might not be too good an idea for the ovals, but....

Didn't CART announce and then scrap that idea back in the 2002/2003 timeframe? Master Series or something like that?
