it appears to me and my roommate that it maybe an old reynard front end with a bigass crapwagon rear wing with sidepods of an undeterminable chassis but we have reached a consensus that it is definitely NOT an old reynske with a barn door slapped on the rear end.

My question is not 'what is it', but 'why is it'?

My question is WGAF? Don't make eye contact. Don't make eye contact.

They're getting around the testing rules, I bet. Reynard with a big fat crapwagon wing = road course testing mule that's not technically a Crapwagon.

No pop off. I realize that even the 2.65 engine sometimes run w/o the pop off when testing, but I wouldn't be surprised its a big ol' honkin' IRL motor w/ the IRL gearbox strapped to it.

Pulling air from where the popoff goes? This 'test' looks more trouble than it's worth. Things that make you go hmm.

Pop-off valves have never been used at unsanctioned tests - they're all owned and controlled by Champ Car. The absence of a pop-off valve doesn't necessarily mean anything. Of course... I wouldn't put it past ol' Woger.

It could be an EARL mill in there. How would he get a CART motor? Would he not have to give Honda back there CART motors once he left for the IRL and Toyota?

I'm sure Toyota would be happy to supply him with an old TRD 2.65 turbo.

Then again, I'm sure development work was started on an adapter for the old 3.5 spec when Champ was going to adopt that... and the 3.0 is just an evolution of the 3.5...

Why do I suddenly have in my head of Defender, Wilke, and Turn13 in yellow shirts and plastic flowerpots for hats chanting "We are not men; we are Devo!"

BTW, to me that looks like a Reynske with IRL sidepods and rear wing.

Looks like the Penske (Renske) champ car, sidepods and all. They had the mirrors moved out to and those leading edges on the pods.

I agree. And I don't think there's enough room under there for a crapwagon motor...

Perhaps a way to get Hornish some road course time? Hmm....

Agreed...plus winglet mods and larger rear wing endplates.
