He's probably going to be the most "who care's" Champion in Nextel's history. I'm glad Jimmy Fennig won a Championship as crew chief.

The Chase is a mistake. (but we already knew that)

But (and we all knew this too) its here to stay. The last 50 laps NBC needed a permanent foxbox to show the points 'as they run now'.

It went down to the final laps to award the championship. Thats what the bosses want, and will continue to get.

Didn't Busch test a Champ Car a couple years ago ?

I was thinking of the headline:

"Champ Car Driver Grabs The Nextel Cup"

I watched some of the race, but the SCCA runoffs were on Speed Sunday too. There was some good stuff there.

While Busch and Gordon tawdled around mid-pack and got the majority of the screen time, Stewart and Newman actually had a dicey little battle for the lead going which got pushed off into a little PIP window. The green checkers finish, while pretty exciting with the 3 drivers in close contact, didn't mean alot unless Busch blew up or wrecked. I suppose this will fly with average Bubba Nascar fan, then again, maybe not.

Which track id they use for this test?
Does anyone know the When ? Where ? How did he do ? for this deal....

I'm not a big fan of Kurt Busch, the personality, but you have got to respect him with his "on track" actions, and personality. That is fo' sho".....

According to this Busch finished 4th and the final 10 races produced little movement up and down the standings

Kinda back on topic though.... I had forgot about this:

In this BS 'chase' - you know the point spread is still wrong when Jimmy Johnson wins 4 of the 10 races and still ends up 3rd in the points.

I bet that Busch was faster than Cornish after his recent testing at Sebring.

I'd be amazed if you could find a racing situation where Hornish would, in fact, be faster than Busch.

No, more like the nearest bowling alley.

Wow Steve;

For a guy who "hasn't watched a race since early August", you sure know what went down with NECKCAR :p .

If openwheel made enough "mistakes" like that, there would actually be people watching...

I think Tony the Moron's efforts to attract fans with those kinds of mistakes has shown that NASCAR pretty much has the corner on the "racing is rasslin'" crowd. If contrived competition is what it takes to draw new fans then I would rather scrape along with the ones we've got.

If there's no place in North America for racing as a sport then I'll just find something else to do with my time.
