According to to an Email I just got from a friend, a British racing magzine, is reporting that Red Bull has purchased Jaguar and that they want to team David Coultard with A.J. Allmendinger next year! I don't have a link and I have no idea if it's true, just letting you know what my friend told me.

My first thought on that driver lineup is "over the hill" and "not quite ready", but in reality it's perfect for a team trying to find it's way out of the doldrums.

Just another interesting matchup in a year that's already full of them.

Two questions:

What is a "token amount" after all the $$$ and £££ Ford poured into Jaguar F1?

Will Red Bull rebrand to their own or do they get to keep the Jaguar name?

The Jaguar name is owned by Ford and won't be retained from what I've read. I would assume it would be "Red Bull something or the other" since Deitrich Mateschitz seems to be all about marketing.

Selling it for a token amount doesn't suprise me. Ford just wants to stop the bleeding and put this embarassing episode behind them.

Uhhh...about the bleeding...one has to wonder what they were expecting in the first place...it is formula one after all...

Jaguar should be in racing out of respect for its history - maybe Ford can come up with enough money to fund a sports car team at least...

AtlasF1 is now showing a front page article that Red Bull have confirmed this is a done deal.
