there used to be a massive joint called Sports Town a few places around town, don't know how widespread they are though...

I remember a huge advertising push by fogdog.com 4-5 years back as they tried to become "THE place" for sporting goods

Galyans and Gander Mountain, although the latter is more outdoors/hunting/fishing than stick and ball sporting goods.

Dick's and Gaylins merged recently (or a buy-out?)

Academy and Bass Pro Shops.

Between the two, Academy is tops because of the many locations and the cheap prices. BPS is good for things that Academy doesn't carry.

Sports Authority and Sportmart also merged although, when I talked to a clerk about six months ago, it was not sure if they would be changing the names of Sportmart to Sports Authority yet.

Oh Yeah!

I don't know if they are still in Business, but there was a place called Erehwon Outfitters in the Chi-town area. I seem to remember them going belly-up recently though.

I must admit to being a little dissapointed with this thread. Judging by the title, I expected it to feature Sean O' (pictured, at left) and his straight-ballin homies, as they're always "sporting good chains".

Word to Big Bird, yo.

I hope Sean doesn't feel obliged to bust a cap in my honky posterior for posting the pic without his permission. ;)

Don't be playa hatin', yo.

Dude, if you are going to post a pic like that, at least make it accurate. I booted those other two guys out years ago, Ank and Cork took over their spots. :D With 2 minorities in the group we look much more from the streets, y0!

And besides, this is my newest chain:

While I'm still laughing my ass off at this thread, I don't get where you got that idea. I dress more conservative than anyone else I know my age, please don't lump me in with those morons. :)

Weren't you the one who wasn't listening to any of my car suggestions because they weren't flashy enough? Besides, my car has a stock exhaust.

no, it was because I didn't want a mazda 3 with a folger's can on the back, and we all know you have one, so quit playing dumb :gomer:
