There's a story on the Champ car web page about Christian Fittipaldi. Would you want him back? I would rather see Carpentier stick around than see Fittipaldi get a ride. Of course there are a half dozen other drivers I'd rather see than either of them, but I guess we don't get a vote.

I'm with you on both counts.

How many years in top-flight equipment with little to show for it? A win handed to him by Montoya's gearbox and another in a 500-mile crap shoot.

No thanks.

I'm with you guys also....Add this: Also was in the lead at Detroit 96 for a sure win, but passed by Michael Andretti who won. Sad to see Carpentier leave.

I guess the Petty driving experience didn't work out?

During his tenure at N/H, I'm betting he brought in lots of young girls into Kmarts around the county and got them to spend their money but I never saw him as much more than a rep/PR person with a pretty face for one of N/H's sponsors.

We've got a few hot shoes in Atlantics that I'd rather see than him.

I'd welcome Christian back with open arms...as a team co-owner with his uncle.

If he adds a car to the field, fine. If he takes an existing seat, not so fine.

Much rather get a young driver from Atlantics, or have Carp stay.

Yup, Emmo should buy him a ride. The boy has a spectacular talent for backing it into the wall without scrubbing off much speed.

I'd gladly welcome him back, provided he displaces Phillipe or Mazzacane. He'd also be an improvement over Lavin or Gonzalez.

Kinda ironic- I always figured Fitti was a lot like Carp- talent minus motivation.

They all bring money or sponsorship.

Hmmm. I always figured the motivation was to cash in on the family name no matter the talent/desire situation. See Fangio2, Foyt4, Larry2.5.

Ditto :D

We need more cars in the field.

I would love to see Carpentier stick around but the call of the Yen was too great. :shakehead

Christian is past his prime, there are other drivers who can whine and complain about things a lot better. Sorry Christian, no more aiport race circuits for you to run across. :shakehead
