I dunno, give it a nose job, chainsaw off the airbox and give it a decent paint job and I don't think it would look that bad.

if they hacked that fin off the airbox it would look sweet... I always hated when champ cars had those....

Nope, crapwagon ugliness is shot clear through to the tub by order of Lord Sagamore.

The besides the airbox and the noses crapwagons have huge sidepods, fat asses and ridiculously large wings. Only Grand Am saves them from being the ugliest race cars on earth. Another aspect of the IMS/ISC collusion perhaps?

It's not THAT bad, the nose is much better than a wagon. The fin on the airbox has to go and I don't like the rear wing configuration. It looks a little clumsy.

Is there an aero advantage to such large upright surfaces on the rear wing? They go all the way down next to the tire.

I think it's funky without being quite Crapwagon-ugly. Does have a lot of Batmobile in its DNA though.

Probably not, but I'd imagine since it is a spec chassis, the A1 GP organizers told them to make the car look wild.

From the side it doesn't look that bad (aside from the fin), but for the most part it looks very overdone.

Boxing in the rear wing with big end-plates improves the downforce by eliminating turbulence over the ends of the wing and around the tires.

Somewhere along the line Champ car started requiring a minimum clearance between the rear endplates, the bodywork and the rear tires to control downforce.

After looking through the pics of that black car, it sure seems to have a lot of aerodynamic surfaces. These things aren't going to like turbulence.
