If so, finding people to mfg. the parts and rebuild them shouldn't be a big deal as they can probably just hire the US based Cosworth employees. Cosworth subbed out many of the parts, so there are only a few additional items that would have to be placed out.

Of course the financial markets love this and Ford stock is up well on the news. The real question is can the non-NASCAR international racing world survive without Ford? Certainly. Can Ford survive without any visible involvement in racing outside the US? Not for long. Jaguar and Ford will both be diminished in the market as a result of this decision. Many of those in the market for cars today weren't even alive when Ford won LeMans and many more were too young to remember Jaguars endurance racing. Even stodgy GM discovered that without racing results they were not taken seriously in markets outside the US and their demographics in the US were such that they would be selling their cars in the cemetary before long. Ford's decision is simply the most recent idiocy of US automotive management when dealing with a world market that most of them fail to understand. At some point in the future Ford will be forced to return to racing and will have to reinvest in creating all the infrastructure from scratch.

I don't know if it refutes or supports your points, but Jaguar lost $180 million US in the last quarter alone. They are planning to close a UK plant. People say their cars look like Fords, and there is talk of moving production to Detroit.

I'd say Ford is not managing the Jaguar brand well.

As a Rord employee, I can say that Ford will not build Jaguars in the US. However, South Aferfica is not out of the quewstion. As for Cosworth, the business will not be sold, but the champ Car deal will still be support via an imdependent Cosworth on a seperatecontract paid for Ford.

Just read that Red Bull may buy the team. I was told last week by a source in the know that Red Bull's owner has screwing around money of about 45 million a month. That's money to spend on fun stuff or whatever. Certainly enough to buy an F1 team.
