First practice is over and Sammich has clearly found a place to put the nitrous bottle at last:

8 A.J. Foyt IV (14) 0.2424 25.6713 213.156 29

But Mr. Ed maintains form and keeps his nose in the feedbag:

18 Ed Carpenter (52) 0.5989 26.0278 210.237 11

Only twenty cars on the track among the two groups in the session. Hornish and Franchitti had to sit out the session as the penalty for their pit problems last race. Whoop de doo! What kind of penalty is that?

It's looking like a possible podium finish this weekend. :gomer:

Down to 12th doggonit. I guess with just a couple races left in the season, AJ is pulling out all the stops. Hopefully quattro shows good, that whole Jensen to Williams thing is still up in the air.

He's clawed his way up to mid-pack in a practice session. No wonder all the teams are clamoring to sign him!

Holy Crap!!! In quals:

1 Helio Castroneves (3) 25.4797 214.759

6 A.J. Foyt IV (14) 0.2077 25.6874 213.023

16 Ed Carpenter (52) 0.4141 25.8938 211.325

There has to be a nitrous bottle or a special 4.0l Toyota involved in this somehow. ;) I'm counting on a raceday return to form.

Gramps hired an engineer/aerodynamisist (Tim Wardrop) with the promise to both pay him and leave him alone.

I'm confident that Eye Vee will make an early charge to the rear of the pack. He's just more comfortable back there.

That will last about two weeks, right?

Past experience tells me it may or may not last two days.

In the season opener Tim helped out during Saturday practice and had Quatro halfway up the charts. Tim was then summoned by Haas to head back to Indy and begin setting up an Indy effort. In Tim's absence Quatro plummeted back to his usual place.

Oh damn, I was just going to present the idea of AJ getting "The Call" to appease his unhappiness with the upcoming road races.

I was thinking the same thing.

Amazing that the wanker of wankers can qualify 6th.

Qualiying in the IRL is an engine/engineering excersize, the driver is simply holding the button down while hugging the inside.

Quatro's test will come tomorrow as he will have a decent car under him for a change. (unless of course The Portly Texan takes a notion to fire Dr Who)

btw, if you don't like flat on the mat BS racing don't watch Vegas.

I tell you what man, that dang ol' Boomhauer's a lot more articulate than that dang ol' IV, man.

I loved it when the "token semi-hot announcer chick" says "Well, eye vee, you crashed out after running up there with the big boys", and he says "yeah, we'll just have to do it all over again at California".... meaning what ? He'll run up front again, and have another tub smashing performance ?

Classic stuff from eye vee....

His charge to the rear was reminicant of some of the great drives by DNF. :gomer:
