Interesting to say the least, thought it was a goner.

If Champ Car is taking the risk I certainly hope they've got exclusive rights for open wheel.

Right, if you guys know anyone in Portland remotely connected to the track tell them to go to Champweb and check out the Surfers thread. In it there are two links to the TV promotion that they are running already.

I couldn't get them to work with media player but you can download a free FLV player to see them. The second one is better! ;)

Peter Jacobsen is apparently out, and Champcar will promote the race themselves.

Good to keep any natural terrain course.

Now, plow up the festival bs and crank up the promotional effort.

Gotta spend money to make money.

Now that's pathetic.

BTW: I think OWRS did exactly the right thing here: Be straight up, promise only what you can deliver, and try to put together a package that works for all involved. Congrats.

The lease deal is the best, no money lost by either side, sharing of increasing profits. Sets the stage for others to get the same deal. Now, back to Mid-Ohio!

Right on Mueber. Throughout this year our credibility is growing, both ontrack and off. Huge props to the Three Amigos and their team.

In other news, Fred Nation, in a momentary lapse into unintentional hilarity, utters a non sequitur in response to a question no one asked. But, he did want to add that, although his beliefs have little basis in reality, he does take profound delight in eating orange marmalade on his shirred eggs.

This shows that OWRS is being run by smart guys how can deal and still keep venues, without being blackmailed by TG. Time to work on Road America. Not bad for a "dead" racing series. ;)

I like the way this worked out. CCWS wasn't willing to bend over, and now they have a three year deal.

no doubt... wasn't it a promoter that had the h*** *n to get the earl in there? Is it booked through his group or is he gone?

Golf pro Peter Jacobson and his production company were pimping the EARL. They do a good job on golf tournaments, and golf is what they should stick to. They don't know diddle about motorsports promotion.

[url]If Champ Car is taking the risk I certainly hope they've got exclusive rights for open wheel.

To quote the commissioner "The IRL is out of the picture." This is as it should be, if CCWS does the groundwork and investment to build up the event, they shouldn't have that work benefit some other sanctioning body.

CCWS played this exactly right by walking away, then not returning the city's phone calls for a couple weeks. They knew the IRL was blowing smoke and called their bluff. As a result, the IRL left the city looking like bloody fools and without a race, something that won't be soon forgotten I imagine.

PeterJacabson and his production company geared around Golf promotin racing. No wondor they went with the earl. Show a lack of marketing preparation, which also the Earl's problem. IMG sports group had a smiliar outlook. That gruop used to run the Detriot GP and the Cleveland GP.

Rusty, guess what? Having those thoughts again. Can't believe it.

We are tossing up - Florida in our new rig or NZ and AU again. I'd love to do it again, but with the $$ tied up in this thing it is hard watching it sit on a concrete pad behind the house.

Picture on the way.
