I hope Speed Freaks read this. I just got another one of your emails hyping your show on Speed Channel. I never asked to be on your email list. I do not want to be on your list. And there is no way to remove myself from your list.

Just how in the hell did you get my email address, anyway? :shakehead

I get them too. :flame:

I've always thought they got our addresses somehow from 7G. I complained about it over there once.

Doesn't the spam law require that each email include an easy way to unsubscribe? I think they are breaking a federal law.

I get them too. I think I put my email address into their web site once upon a time to hear an appearance by Chris Pook.

Yes. Found this in the message I got:

SpeedFreaks do not intend to send unsolicited email. Should you wish to be removed from our promo news list, please respond to this email with "REMOVE" in the subject line... but don't count on your tooth fairy money.

Not sure what that last remark means.

Farmed off of 7G, for sure. I got them regularly until I started replying with rather nasty comments about spamming and contacting the FCC.

It means they will annoy anyone they can farm an e-mail addie from...

SpeedFreaks seems like a solely leftcoast product. They won't sell their crap anywhere else but in Indiana ( the only place in the middlecoast that qualifies as a blackhole...).

I responded with REMOVE the last time I got a SF e-mail, and they removed me, but not after asking my reasons why.

WOW! Is that ever a useful form. I've put it in my Favorites! Having said that, I never mind getting email from the Speed Freaks. At least it's racing related and not about my insurance, my mortgage, or my uh, nevermind.

So many responses pop into my head. Absolutely none of them fit a family forum. :D

Well, I hope you had the sack and good sense to tell Gladys that at your age you really DIDN'T feel the need for those boner-enhancement gimmicks she was sending you.

I don't think it was only 7G that they farmed. I get the annoying messages on an email account that wasn't used on 7G and the one that was doesn't get the messages.

Crapwagon seems to be the site that was mined.

Yes.

In the begining.

In the last year or two, it was an IRL site that focused more on politics than it did Champ Cars. The main underwriter for the site was Toyota and when toyota went to the IRL, they tried to force the issue on the website. They resisted at first but little by little let the tide change. When it was obvious that they could not support Champ Car any longer, they shut the server off and redirected to some goofy site.

while never telling the forum regulars that they were going to shut the server down at all.

It's surprisingly difficult to rap on the Internet about Champ Car without getting in the middle of somebody else's pissing contest, having to take an oath, getting gomered by Toyota or some other BS.

I suppose I should pay more attention to all this behind-the-scenes stuff, but frankly I really don't care.

They got mine before I ever registered at Crapwagon. I wonder if Cart sold them?

That's awesome! I had no idea that it had anything to do with toyota! lmao that yota funded it and never got props over there. everyone (at least the crew here now) always beach slapped ftrd with the slightest opportunity at their own nickel!

You never noticed that Toyota loyalists disappeared shortly before the end?

Tinman and others of the like? The intent of the sponsorship deal was to have people promoting Toyota from within the accepted "group" instead of in your face banner ads that say "buy toyota". There were a couple of names on there that were there only to market the toyota name and with it came a couple from Honda that wanted to counter the propaganda.

I never heard that before. I guess that explains where those "Sean O' is a paid Toyota shill" rumors came from.

I sent them a cancellation notice for the dorky email annoucements, called them IRL gomers and dorks of the racing media set. Yesterday, they had fun with normal mistyping errors I tend to make, and sent back thier reply that went to the effect "get a load of this guy". I know that outfit lurks here, so to SPEEKFREAKS, YOU ARE NOT THE GREATEST THING ON RADIO FOR RACING NEWS, INTERVIEWS OR OTHER INFORMATION. Robin Miller's "The Truth" is more informing and fun than some show that features a guy called "LuggNutz"

FSF. That shows about as much fun as watching a couple crippled kids play with a jackhammer.

Ugly anyway you watch it. :shakehead

ZE, ask Jefferson Airplane (before they sold out), circa 1967. Maybe someday Paul Harvey will get on with "the rest of the story".

And SeanO, take heart wee lad. There are many more juicy rumors on these boards about you. ;)

7Th Gear funded by Toyota, I guess that explains whatsherface's (Tara Muenger) rise within the CART community. However. the flame was lit for expressing discontent with TG on the internet and it continues up to the present. I would love to hear the accountant in the US sales office explain 7th gear to Japanese managment how they funded what eventually become an IRL hate site. " but Mr. YenSAN, it was supposed to gather fan support for us, you know sneak attack, and they did not follow us, it failed sir"

On the way home from Elkhart Lake I stumbled onto the freaks' radio deal, wow, that sucked.

I don't know how I started receiving emails from these folks but I'm thinking about employing some witchcraft geek to lift the curse.

I feel I have to jump in here.

I've been working at Toyota dealerships for over eight years. I've chattted with quite a few folks at Toyota Motorsports and affiliated organizations. Quite often I told them about 7G, and unless they had awesome acting skills, they knew nothing about it.

Maybe Toyota did underwrite it, maybe not. All I know is in 7G's heyday it facilitated a great many people getting to know each other and the chance for Champ Car fans from throughout the US and Canada to meet up at various tracks and enjoy some great racing.

Plus, I had Toyota comps at RA for Champ Car, and taking the whole family for ALMS this weekend. :gomer:

And to stay on topic.....the SpeedFreaks are pathetic.

Let the flames begin.
