ESPN.com is excerpting sections of Cheating: An Inside Look At The Bad Things Winston Cup Racers Do In Pursuit Of Speed, by Tom Jensen.

Here's their five excerpts:
Part 1 (http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2003/0204/1503934.html)
Part 2 (http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2003/0205/1504321.html)
Part 3 (http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2003/0205/1504322.html)
Part 4 (http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2003/0205/1504323.html)
Part 5 (http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2003/0205/1504324.html)

They were an interesting read. I don't know if I'd be interested in reading the entire book, but the excerpts are interesting enough.

Penske and Wallace got whacked 30 starting positions for an "illegal carburetor".

What's a carburetor, how is one illegal, and is it covered in this book? ;)

What's a carburetor,

A piece of parphernalia with one opening for the substance and another used to control air intake.

how is one illegal

In and of itself it's not, but the substance used usually is. Check local listings.

is it covered in this book?

Probably not nearly as well as it's covered in "High Times".

Thanks for the clarification, 'bird.

For a time I was worried that the vaunted Team Penske was reduced to cheating in NASCAR to stay in the top ten. It's easier to beat a federal rap than to stand in Mike Helton's trailer....
