I've gotta tell you - I'm amazed.

Pole for the Toyota Atlantic race at Milwaukee was 24.676 seconds.

Pole for the IPS race was 24.806 seconds, so they're .130 seconds slower at that track. Of course, second place was .3 behind the pole.

Here's the kicker: According to the Atlantics site, the cars have 240 horses in 1,265 pounds. Pounds per HP is 5.27.

According to the IPS website, the cars have 450 horses in 1,430 pounds. Pounds per HP is 3.18.

Incredible. I can't even begin to imagine how aeroed-down the IPS cars must be. They behave like they're pulling a plow.

And six of them STILL couldn't finish.

Other than the math, I knew this stuff. Those cars are not only aero pigs, they are dangerous in design. Just like their big brothers, they prepare you for surgury and rehab.

Amazing too when you consider the Atlantic cars have too much aero for the hp they put out.
