read this on another forum ...

Teresa & Junior At Odds:? Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be one of NASCAR's crown
jewels, but the stock-car racing star had to bum a ride from North Carolina
here for the weekend's race because Teresa Earnhardt, CEO at Dale Earnhardt
Inc. - and also Dale's stepmother - refused to let him fly on the company
plane. Odd? Petty? But it's not the first time the two have had odd run-ins.
Earnhardt might be the star whose talents and name keep DEI in business, but
Teresa runs the company and to outsiders has often appeared to treat him as
little more than just another hired hand. This time when Teresa vetoed
Earnhardt's flight up here (apparently because he wanted his mother, Brenda
Jackson to ride along and help change his bandages), Richard Childress again
quietly stepped in to help Earnhardt out, letting the son of the legend use
his personal jet to get to the track and back home. - The Winston-Salem
Journal

This should be written into the "Ken Burns completes NASCAR documentary for PBS" special. :D

Problem solved.......little E buys his own jet. I am sure Augie number 3 can help him with that. :)

Looks like screwing Ironhead is really paying off. Game, set and match.

Didn't he just re-sign for quite a few more years of this dis-functionality? He must love it.

Little "E" ought to find some rich owners, partner with them , and buy DEI out from her. Her price cannot be too much considering the risk such pettyness would have on this franchise. Then again, there is this spoiled rich kid whose playpen is at 16th & Georgetown st. in Speedway IN.

Why would he have to buy DEI from her? He could start his own team with a few key defections from DEI and more than likely DEI would become a shell of its former self.

Indeed. Just like how Gordon and Rusty own the cars they drive for. Little E already owns his Busch team. The way he easily gets knocked out he won't be driving for a full 20 year NASCAR career so ownership would be a good thing.

I'm not comprehending this morning!

Are you saying Hendrick would be where he is today if Jeffy would have left after his second championship and started his own team?

Does Rusty own the cars he drives? I thought he was just a driver and Penske owned the cars.

Rusty owns 25% of Penske South, has from the start. Don Miller owns 25% and Penske the rest. Gordon owns part of his team and Jimmie Johnson's team, Hendrick made that deal when he re-signed him. Jr. could easily have been a part/full owner, since sponsorship is King.

The difference between Little E and the two drivers that you mention is that Little E is the main asset - from the driver's seat AND from a marketing standpoint - for DEI. If Little E leaves, Bud leaves. Their contract is with him, not with DEI. Even NAPA has some key leveraging with Little E.

Hendrick, on the other hand, had a functioning race team with other marketable assets besides Gordon, and Penske did too.

This months's RACER pointed out Jr. had $20 million in earnings. (souvenirs and race winnings)
